A maiden speech from TCN on April 6, 2016, as Total Croatia Cycling is launched at the UHPA conference on sustainable development at Hotel Panorama in Zagreb.
'Give people what they want and celebrate the little guy' was the simple message I delivered as one of the speakers at this year's conference of the Croatian National Association of Travel Agents (UHPA): “Innovation and Sustainable Development of Special Interest Tourism Products (ID SIT).”
The speech coincided with the launch of our first themed sister site, Total Croatia Cycling, a homepage for now. You can listen to the launch speech at the bottom of the article. If you would like to get involved or have a cycling business in Croatia, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. As for the concept, perhaps it is best to leave that in the words of our email to potential partners, below.
The potential of Croatia as a cycling destination is huge, and there are several great initiatives happening all over the country. And all in isolation. Although cycling was a key component of Croatia 365, after 18 months, there are only 8 cycling options on the official website, and none of these even has meaningful information.
Total Croatia News will address that problem to produce the first comprehensive cycling website for all of Croatia in one place. Working with the cycling community and local and regional tourist boards, it will do the following:
1. Produce a comprehensive map - both nationally and by region, which will be coded in 5 colours.
Click yellow - all the cycling maps of Croatia (with a click through to each map with details)
Click red - all the races and events in Croatia, with an event calendar. Click through and get full info on each event
Click blue - full information on all cycling tours and tourism
Click orange - a guide to cycling hospitality - hotels, restaurants, private accomm
Click black - a guide to bike rentals and shops to get equipment
2. All cycling info from each region will be included
3. To keep the site alive, our bloggers will write at least 5 blogs a week
4. All cycling news will be promoted internationally via Google News through our sister site www.total-croatia-news.com
5. There will be additional features, such as video of the week, photos of the day, interview of the week (and a great chance to promote the work of cycling partners).
6. If Total Cycling is successful, our next project will be Total Croatia Wine, in partnership with Karin Mimica from Gastronaut. The same principles.
