Slaven Bilić Attempts to Explain Failure against Guardiola

By 2 February 2017

A heavy loss for Slaven Bilić at home on Wednesday at the feet of Manchester City, 0:4. This is the second time West Ham has crumbled against the same team, with coach Bilić offering no excuses after the defeat

“We started out well, but they were quite dangerous, especially when we were in possession. We gave up the ball on the first and third goal, we made mistakes. It’s hard to take two goals so quickly, and then we made another mistake and were not aggressive anymore, we didn’t close them in,” said Bilić after the game, as Index reproted on February 2, 2017.

In the beginning of January Guardiola’s team defeated them with 5:0.

“We can argue this only happens against Man City, as not all teas are like them. They beat us 5:0 in the cu and 4:0 tonight. We have to give them that, but we helped them too. We gave such players too much space and time with the ball. When you give them so much space, they slaughter you. It’s very frustrating, just like in the cup. We began well and then made mistakes. If you give them the ball, they will punish you. After that it’s hard to play against them,” said Bilić.

“When you’re down 3:0, there is hope for a turnaround if you score, but to be fair you try more not to take another goal than score as that is the quality of City. We must get over this game and get ready for Southampton. This is a tough defeat, it hurts, but we cannot allow it to affect our game. We must bounce back like we did after the cup loss. We must show that we can.”
