Pressure on Bilić: Under Threat of Dismissal

By 26 March 2017

Unless West Ham reaches positive results in the next three matches, coach Slaven Bilić may be fired, as Daily Mail reported

West Ham was defeated in the last three Premier League matches, while in 2017 the team had only one shut out. In the next three games they will play Hull City, Arsenal and Swansea, and unless Bilić’s team wins at least one of them, West Ham Management Board may vote on dismissing the coach, Jutarnji List reported on March 26, 2017.

“The mood has changed in the past two months. Management planned to offer Bilić a new contract from the coming summer after he returned the team to the upper half of the rankings, but then negotiations stalled. Club insiders stated in January Bilić was offered an extension until 2020, while now his job is in danger,” the Daily Mail article stated.

As a potential successor of Bilić The Mirror mentioned Dutch Jaap Stam (former ManU player), the 44-year-old coach of Reading. Also, injuries of key players Winston Reid and Michail Antonio came at the worst possible time for Bilić’s team.

In any case, the Croatian coach has hard times ahead for himself and his team desperately needs victories. West Ham is currently in 12th place of the league with 33 points, nine above the drop out zone.
