A Zagreb miracle today at Maksimir as Lokomotiva punished Dinamo with four goals for the win!
While it was expected that Dinamo would face a challenge against their brother-branch Lokomotiva at Maksimir this afternoon, it’s safe to say that nobody predicted a 4-1 beating by the visiting team who, with four goals in the back of Livaković's net, won for the first time against Dinamo in 28 games. Around a thousand spectators saw the defeat in real time, which has not happened yet in the history of this league, reports 24 Sata on March 10, 2018.
Dinamo, deprived of Gavranović and Soudani for the match, was a bit too relaxed and confident from the start. Just eight minutes in, Dinamo had their awakening. It all began when Lokomotiva’s Kastrati and Dinamo’s Benković battled in the box, which led the Zaprešić official Marko Matoc to call for a penalty. Lovro Majer, Lokomotiva’s most promising young talent, had no issue nailing the back of the net from the penalty spot for a 1:0 Lokomotiv lead.
The result was not equalized until the 25th minute when Dinamo’s Dani Olmo found the back of Adrian Šemper’s net after a missed opportunity just moments before. The game was now 1:1 and remained that way until the half.
It seemed then, however, that Cvitanović’s team had found their footing, and in the 42nd minute, Ademi fired a brilliant strike that just missed the goal. Unfortunately, Ademi’s missed chance would certainly come back to haunt Dinamo - and it did. A penalty was called for Lokomotiva in the 44th minute which Kastrati nailed to punish the home team again - Lokomotiva now led 2:1.
And in the 60th minute, Lokomotiva scored for 3:1.
The Dinamo coach then put in Ante Ćorić in hopes of saving the day, but in the 67th minute, it was Lokomotiva’s Kastrati again to find the net for 4:1! The game, at the point, left Dinamo without any hope of a comeback.
And let’s not forget, Dinamo already lost to Rijeka earlier this week by three goals. It has not been a good week for the Blue boys.
With this latest defeat and Hajduk's win against Istria 1961 tonight, Dinamo now leads the league with only six points!
Goran Tomić is the first coach responsible for Lokomotiva’s miracle at Maksimir!
