First Croatian Biological Swimming Pool to Open in Čazma in July

ZAGREB, 12 April 2022 - Croatia's first biological swimming pool is being built in Čazma, 60 kilometres east of Zagreb, and Mayor Dinko Pirak visited the construction site with his associates on Tuesday, announcing the beginning of the bathing season for July this year.

"Construction and other works have to be completed by 30 May, which will be followed by a technical inspection in June, so I expect the bathing season will start in July," said Mayor Pirak.

The pool with environmentally friendly water purification will measure 1,500 square metres in area. It will have a deep and a shallow area, and will be able to accommodate 500 swimmers.

The pool is being built as part of the Čazma Natura project, worth HRK 26 million (€3.5m), and the educational theme trail Medjama, which leads through the valley of the river Česma, is also under construction.

"All interventions in the space are designed to respect the natural environment and do not have an aggressive effect on nature, flora and fauna," project manager Dajana Petrina said.

Čazma Mayor and About 300 Local Members of HSS Leave Party

ZAGREB, March 4, 2020 - The mayor of Čazma, Dinko Pirak, who sits on the main committee of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), and about 300 local members of this parliamentary party announced on Wednesday they were leaving the party in protest at the way its current leader, Krešo Beljak, was running the HSS.

Pirak said in a press release that he had been a member of the HSS for almost 25 years, but that he and some 300 members of the local branch had decided to leave one of the oldest parties in Croatia because its leader Beljak had done huge damage to the HSS with his public statements and his behaviour.

He said that the local organisation of the HSS in this town 60 kilometres east of Zagreb would continue to be active through an independent local political group.

Several weeks ago, the HSS branch in the eastern town of Vladislavci stated that local members would leave the party in protest against how Beljak was running the HSS and his statements which they considered unacceptable.

Cazma Provides Christmas Bonus for Retirees, New Space for Fire Brigade

More often than not, money for works that need to be done and incentives that should morally be provided ''can't be found'' in city and town budgets, while miraculously needless things do seem to get done and with no funding problems from town and city budgets at all. The continental Croatian town of Cazma in Bjelovar-Bilogora County is setting an example many other places across the country could learn from.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 10th of December, 2019, the value of these works is estimated at around 480 thousand kuna and will be financed from Cazma's own city budget.

Over the past month, 211 applications from pensioners who are unfortunately of a poorer financial status have arrived at Cazma's local administration. These people in particular get pensions that don't exceed the amount of 1,500 kuna per month. For all of them, Cazma's budget has secured the money to pay out Christmas bonuses for them this year.

In total, this figure amounts to almost 32,000 kuna in total. Payments will be made every day, and they started last Thursday, December the 5th, and will continue right up until Christmas, on the ground floor of the Cazma town administration, every day from 09:00 onwards.

In addition to Christmas bonuses for retirees, the former technical inspection building is being redeveloped in Cazma for the needs of the Cazma Public Fire Department.

The interior of the building will be completely renovated, a kitchenette and on-call firefighter space will be built, an office for the commander and deputy, and new restrooms will also be created. In addition, the old joinery will be replaced with plastic joinery, a new heating system will be installed, as will a new electricity distribution system and brand new lighting.

As previously stated, the total value of these works is estimated to stand at around 480 thousand kuna and will be financed in full from Cazma's budget.
