Green Tourism: A Look at 'Čazma Nature' Eco-Project Valued at 26 Million Kuna

By 13 January 2018

A wonderful new eco-project could see the light in 2018!

‘Čazma Natura’, the new project proposal of the City of Čazma, has successfully passed the assessment phase evaluating the project's eligibility and quality, and has been referred to the next stage of the procedure, or the awarding of grants, reports HRTurizam on January 12, 2018.

The ‘Čazma Natura project includes the protection and revitalization of protected areas of nature, the Moslavačka Gora Regional Park and the area along the Česma River, Medjame and Vustje, as well as the construction of new contents in the town of Čazma, such as the Green Market and a bio bathing resort - that is, a Biological Park. The project also envisages the renovation of two classrooms at the Čazma Elementary School and the arrangement of an arboretum, as well as the construction of a sports park with an educational theme dedicated to cyclists and adrenaline addicts as it will enable the development of new skills. As part of the project, the Decoration of the Multifunctional Center, i.e. the newly renovated building in the square, will also have a new purpose.

The project’s implementation will directly affect employment - employing 12 full-time employees and 40 seasonal workers - but most importantly, it will generate new value and positively change the city's visibility.

"By creating tourism facilities, the number of visitors will increase, and the number of new employees in existing and new tourist and hospitality companies will increase. The introduction of new technologies will contribute to reducing energy consumption and environmental protection. The project will change the City of Čazma's vision and contribute to the achievement of the goal - the development as a ‘City of Green Tourism’, which will influence the development of continental tourism and increase the number of visitors to the underdeveloped areas,” said Čazma Mayor Dinko Pirak.

As part of the Čazma Natura project, which is worth 26 million kuna, EU funds are planned to arrange a cycling park on the sports grounds in Čazma, a green market at King Tomislav Street, an arboretum at the Čazma primary school, Medjame, and a promenade on the embankment and Vustje.

Interestingly, one of the first, if not the first, natural or biological pools will work within the project. In other words, it is a pool without the need for chlorine and any chemicals, and around the baths, there is a special zone where water vegetation is planted, which serves as a mini ecosystem that thus maintains the purity of the pool. Natural pools should be a norm in the continental area of Croatia, at least when we talk about continental tourism. The idea is logical, natural and efficient and fits in the ambience and the whole experience of Croatia’s continental tourism. Additionally, as it is a pool that works artificially, the possibilities of landscaping are infinite and can be constructed, for example, with or without waterfalls, or smaller or larger, so that the natural pools can fit into any space.

This is certainly a great opportunity for continental and rural tourism in Croatia.

Čazma is located in Bjelovar-Bilogora County just 60 kilometers east of Zagreb.
