June 11, 2022 - New Croatia Airlines Split seasonal routes were launched on Friday. The national airline will directly connect Split with five new European destinations during this year's summer flight schedule - Stockholm, Bucharest, Dublin, Milan, and Amsterdam.

The ceremony, which marked this year's expansion of the Croatia Airlines destination network from Split, was held after the first seasonal flight from Stockholm landed in Split. Currently, passengers have two flights a week on this international route - Fridays and Sundays, and return airline tickets are available for as little as 129 euros, reports Croatian Aviation.

On Friday around 2 pm, the first passengers on the new Split - Bucharest seasonal line, which will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, took off on Croatia Airlines, and return airline tickets are available to passengers for as little as 149 euros.

"We are glad that we have offered passengers an even better travel choice and expanded our European destinations network. During this year's season, we plan to connect Croatia with 21 international destinations, i.e., 22 European airports, and the aircraft will fly on 41 international routes. In that period, we plan to run more than 16,000 flights and offer about 1,766,000 seats, which will make the national airline contribute to the quality of Croatian tourism products and improve the transport infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia," said Slaven Zabo, commercial director of Croatia Airlines.

"Croatia Airlines is the most important business partner of Split Airport. This has been particularly evident during the last two crisis pandemic years. Even during the complete blockade of air traffic, Croatia Airlines ensured the connection of Split Airport with the world. Also important to us is the connection that Croatia Airlines provides throughout the year, especially during the winter flight schedule. Direct connection with 18 European destinations compared to 13 in the record 2019, when the Airport had 3.3 million passengers, proves the fact that Croatia Airlines is a strong lever in the process of recovering air traffic and tourism in this region," said Pero Bilas, Assistant Director-General of Split Airport.

On Sunday, June 12, Croatia Airlines is starting to directly connect Split with two other European capitals - Dublin and Milan. There will be flights between Split and Dublin on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and return tickets are available from 169 euros, while flights between Split and Milan are planned on Thursdays and Sundays, and passengers on this route have return tickets from 119 euros.

The fifth new line this season from Split will be introduced on June 14 this year, when the first Split - Amsterdam flight will run. Flights on this route are planned for Tuesday, and return tickets are available to passengers for as little as 159 euros. 

During this season, Croatia Airlines planes will directly connect Split with 18 European destinations. In addition to the new seasonal lines to Stockholm, Bucharest, Dublin, Milan, and Amsterdam, Split will be directly connected with Athens, Vienna, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London (ZL Heathrow and ZL Gatwick), Lyon, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich. In addition, flights on the Split - Prague season line, which was first introduced last year, are being renewed.

May 30, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 42 Croatia Airlines international routes have been announced in June from five Croatian airports. 

In June this year, the Croatian national airline Croatia Airlines announced 42 international routes from five Croatian airports - Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Osijek. Croatian Aviation brings you a list of lines with the number of weekly operations.

In June this year, Croatia Airlines is increasing the number of international routes, mainly from its base at Split Airport, from where the aircraft will take off to new international destinations. Nevertheless, most weekly operations are available from or to Zagreb International Airport, where the airline has its main base.

Athens (via Dubrovnik), 3 times a week, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays,

From Rijeka to:
Munich, 3 times a week, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

The only international line of Croatia Airlines from Rijeka is the seasonal route to Munich, which remains in traffic three times a week this summer. Almost 2,000 seats are available on this line in June.

From Osijek to:
Munich, 2 times a week, Mondays and Fridays.

Osijek Airport has only one flight less per week than Rijeka, also to Munich. The line remains in traffic on Mondays and Fridays and there are slightly more than 1,200 seats available in the next month. This is also the only international line from or to Osijek Airport.

In total, Croatia Airlines will offer almost 190,000 seats to the 5 mentioned Croatian airports in June, exclusively on regular international routes. There are more than 200 weekly flights on 42 scheduled international flights.

ZAGREB, 16 May 2022 - Croatia Airlines (CA) and the German aircraft maintenance company Lufthansa Technik celebrated 30 years of successful cooperation in Zagreb on Monday, and that cooperation is continuing and soon a new two-year contract will be signed.

By combining the strengths of employees and professional knowledge from both companies, excellence in technical aircraft maintenance has been reached, which is recognised by our partners across the world. As a result, Croatia Airlines' Technical Sector has become a center of excellence in which the most demanding technical services are provided to domestic and foreign aircraft, said the president of CA management board, Jasmin Bajić.

He said that Lufthansa Technik was a world leader in its field and that CA experts had so far conducted over 210 major inspections of Lufthans aircraft, all of which had begun with the first CA flight to Frankfurt in 1992, when CA procured three aircraft from Lufthansa, also signing a technical support contract for the aircraft.

In addition to that cooperation, in 2001 CA obtained a JAR 145 certificate for an independent base and line maintenance of foreign aircraft at the Zagreb technical center, at Zagreb's airport, where they have three hangars, and their work didn't stop even during the pandemic, when they signed an addendum to all contracts with Lufthansa.

Lufthansa Technik Vice President for Corporate Sales for EMEA, Kai Roepke, also said the cooperation was extremely successful, adding that it was a great example of international cooperation.

May 13, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Croatia Airlines Zurich flights and Turkish Airlines Croatia flights are announced from next month.

Croatia Airlines and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board presented in Zurich to Swiss business (B2B) journalists and travel agents. The presentation was also attended by Andrea Bekić, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Switzerland and Slobodan Mikac, Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Switzerland, reports Croatian Aviation.

This year's Croatia Airlines summer flight schedule was presented with an emphasis on direct international flights from Dubrovnik to Zurich, which are planned from June 1, 2022, four times a week - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Return tickets are available to passengers on this route for as little as 143 euros.

On the same day, regular flights from Zurich to Split will run four times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, daily flights between Zurich and Zagreb are available to passengers from Switzerland.

Dubrovnik is a distinct air destination and the development of air transport is very important for the tourist facilities of the city and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which offer domestic and foreign tourists a wealth of natural, historical, cultural and many other beauties and features.

This season, Croatia Airlines will connect Croatia with 21 international destinations, i.e., 22 European airports, flying on 41 international routes. In that period, more than 16,000 flights and about 1,766,000 seats will be offered.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Turkish Airlines announced its flight schedule for June. It plans to increase the number of weekly rotations to Croatia, which includes flights between Istanbul, Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

Flights between Istanbul and Zagreb will continue to operate 14 times a week and 2 times a day, respectively, with morning and evening departures from Zagreb Airport, but a larger number of flights has been announced to Dubrovnik Airport.

Namely, as of Monday, June 13, Turkish Airlines plans to operate daily between Istanbul and Dubrovnik, which will increase the number of weekly flights to and from Croatia to 21.

Narrow-body A320 and A321 aircraft have been announced to Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

May 11, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as six Brač Airport routes from Zagreb, Italy, Austria, and Slovakia have been announced this summer!

In April this year, Brač Airport accepted and dispatched 137 passengers, most of whom flew on the domestic line to Zagreb, which had just begun operating. And now, six flights to Brač Airport have been announced for this year's summer flight schedule, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Namely, this year, Brač Airport will again be directly connected to Zagreb by the regular PSO line of the Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines. This line already operates every Tuesday and Saturday, and Croatia Airlines will conduct a number of charter flights from this Croatian airport to Austria and Slovakia, just like last summer.

In addition to the announced SkyAlps flights to Bolzano and Milan (Bergamo), which will operate from mid-May and early July, Brač will also have regular Croatia Airlines charter flights to Linz and Graz!

The charter line to Graz will start soon, on May 14, while the line to Linz will start on May 21. In addition, Croatia Airlines will again operate on the charter line between Bratislava and Brač from the beginning of July this year.

As for the announced regular and charter flights, there will be traffic on Brač on Saturday from the beginning of July, and six landings and six take-offs to the mentioned destinations have been announced. 

In the first four months of this year, Brač received and dispatched a total of 195 passengers, and the numbers will grow significantly in May.

"This year, Croatia Airlines will operate flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There is an announcement of a flight from Bratislava, then Bolzano Bergamo and Vienna and Graz, which Croatia Airlines operates mainly for guests of the hotel "Bretanide." We hope that the season ahead of us, despite the events in Ukraine, will still be good. Our projections are between 80 and 90 percent of the 2019 tourism results. We’ll see how the season goes. It is difficult to predict in advance what the situation will be like. However, the preparations are going well, and we expect good tourist results," Brač Tourist Board director Markito Marinković said last month.

May 5, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as the Croatia Airlines Split base will continue to expand in the 2022/2023 winter season, with new routes next summer, too. 

Good news for the Dalmatian capital - Croatian national carrier Croatia Airlines is looking to expand operations out of Split Airport! Ex Yu Aviation reports that this news comes after the airline said it would station two aircraft in Split this summer with five new routes. 

Recall, the Croatian national airline Croatia Airlines announced it would introduce new flights to Stockholm, Bucharest, Dublin, Milan, and Amsterdam. Stockholm, Bucharest, Dublin, and Milan were served from Zagreb before the pandemic, while the airline operated to some of these destinations in the past - Amsterdam in October 2013, Dublin in October 1996, and Milan in September 2000.

An Airbus A319 and a Dash 8 turboprop aircraft will be stationed in Split this summer, allowing Croatia Airlines to boost operations on several routes. The airline should also expand operations out of Split in the 2022/2023 winter season, with new routes next summer. 

“Based on the outlook that leisure travel and tourism will recover quicker than business travel following the coronavirus pandemic, we made certain changes to our network. This includes five new destinations from Split and the stationing of one Airbus jet and one Dash there. We have good expectations for the leisure market. We also have plans for winter, while next year we will do something similar. We are optimistic about the summer, which is illustrated through our forward bookings," said Croatia Airlines' Head of Network and Revenue Management, Krešimir Mlinar, at the Aviation Arena webinar.  

“Our biggest problem this year is the price of fuel. The A320 uses two and a half tonnes of fuel per hour. This is a constant, even if a ton of fuel is around 400 euros like last year, 700 euros as was the case at the start of 2022, or 1.200 euros, which is the current price. The numbers are huge, and carriers will have to make up for it through their customers. Our main problem now is that, despite a rise in late bookings, tickets are still being purchased in advance, when the increased costs were not included in the fares for use this summer. From June onwards, we expect high levels of fleet utilisation. Some aircraft types will be in use more than in 2019. That year we also had two jets on wet-lease so as to reduce seasonality. However, it was too risky to employ the same strategy this year," concluded Mlinar.

May 2, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as the year-round Croatia Airlines Munich-Osijek flight officially launched on Monday.

Today's Croatia Airlines flight on the international route OU4431 Munich - Osijek marked the beginning of the year-round air connection between eastern Croatia and the world. As of today, the Croatian national airline's Munich - Osijek flights are available to passengers throughout the year, twice a week - on Mondays and Fridays. The Dash 8-Q400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats will operate on the route, reports Croatian Aviation.

Croatia Airlines established this line in the winter of 2021, for the first time in the company's history, at the initiative of Osijek-Baranja County, the City of Osijek, Osijek-Baranja County Tourist Board, Osijek Tourist Board, and Osijek Airport. The flights were operated from November 15, 2021, to January 14 this year, and thanks to the excellent cooperation of all participants in this project, the achieved results and the quality market demand for flights opened the space for improving the line and it was agreed that the line would work year-round.

This joint project has created a new and quality service, which provides direct air connections between eastern Croatia and abroad, and passengers on this route can catch connecting flights from Munich to destinations around the world.

The introduction of the year-round Osijek-Munich route is an integral part of this year's Croatia Airlines flight schedule, in which the company plans to directly connect Croatia and 21 international destinations, with a total of 41 international flights.

This summer, Croatia Airlines plans to connect Croatia with 21 international destinations, 22 European airports, and fly on 41 international routes. In total, over 16,000 flights and approximately 1,766,000 seats are planned.

Croatia's busiest airport in 2021 has 18 European destinations with Croatian Airlines, which means six new destinations compared to the 2021 summer flight schedule. In addition, five new seasonal lines will be introduced in the first half of June:

ZAGREB, 28 April 2022 - Croatia Airlines generated a loss of HRK 114.9 million in the first quarter of 2022, which is 19% more than in the same period of 2021, mostly due to the rise in fuel prices, the national flag carrier said a financial statement on Thursday.

Total revenue reached HRK 213 million, increasing by 88% from Q1 2021, while expenditure rose by 56% to HRK 328 million.

Compared with Q1 2021, the company flew 200,721 passengers, which is an increase of 178%. The number of flights rose by 113% and the number of passengers went up by 122% in domestic transport and by 214% in international transport. The passenger load factor increased by 6.6 percentage points to 51.4%.

Sales tripled compared with Q1 2021, and booking for May to October was 2.3 times the figures recorded last year, but still 54% below booking for the summer of 2019.

This summer, Croatia Airlines will connect Croatia with 22 European airports and will operate 41 international routes. The summer flight schedule will be expanded to include five more international routes from Split to Amsterdam, Bucharest, Dublin, Milan and Stockholm.

April 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Croatia Airlines postpones Munich-Rijeka until May 15, while Munich-Osijek will operate from May 2. 

In the last few days, the Croatian national airline has made several operational changes on a number of international routes. This included a shift in the seasonal line between Rijeka and Munich, reports Croatian Aviation.

Although Croatia Airlines originally planned to resume the Rijeka-Munich from May 1 with three flights a week, this will not happen. Namely, the Croatian national airline has canceled all flights on this route from the beginning to the middle of May, so now the first flight has been announced for May 15, 2022. 

Although three flights a week were originally planned, Croatia Airlines additionally canceled all flights to Rijeka on Tuesdays until June 7, so it will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, until that date.

From June 7 to the end of the summer flight schedule, three flights a week are currently planned, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, with DashQ400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats.

Compared to the first announcement, Croatia Airlines now offers 1,368 seats less on the Rijeka-Munich route or a total of 10,488 seats in the entire summer flight schedule.

The Osijek-Munich line, introduced by Croatia Airlines on November 15 last year, ran until mid-January. It was temporarily suspended due to restrictive measures that significantly affected passenger demand, but an agreement was reached between Osijek Airport and Croatia Airlines, and the line will operate again from May 2 this year with two flights a week, every Monday. and Friday.

What is still unresolved is the possibility to continue the journey to other destinations in Europe and the world, that is, the number of possible connections is relatively small. The contract with German Lufthansa is extremely important for the success of this code-share line.

April 18, 2022 - The 2022 Brač Airport season officially opened last weekend as the first Croatia Airlines flight from Zagreb landed on the island. 

Shortly after 14:30 on Saturday, the first passenger plane of Croatia Airlines landed at Brač Airport. Nineteen passengers were on the domestic flight, which opened this year's season. Two passengers left the Brač runway on the same plane for Zagreb, reports Brač Danas.

Croatia Airlines will connect the Croatian capital and Brač airport twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Departure from Zagreb's Franjo Tuđman Airport will be at 13:45, while the plane from Brač airport will depart at 15:05. The first passengers at the airport were welcomed by the director of the Bol Tourist Board, Markito Marinković.

"This year, Croatia Airlines will operate flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There is an announcement of a flight from Bratislava, then Bolzano Bergamo and Vienna and Graz, which Croatia Airlines operates mainly for guests of the hotel "Bretanide." We hope that the season ahead of us, despite the events in Ukraine, will still be good. Our projections are between 80 and 90 percent of the 2019 tourism results. We’ll see how the season goes. During last year's tourist season, given the complex, almost impossible air transport due to the unfortunate coronavirus pandemic, the emphasis in many tourist destinations, including Bol, was placed on car guests, i.e., tourists from countries closer to Croatia. Marinković confirmed that car guests would prevail this year as well.

"Emphasis will be placed on guests from Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. And here, we will monitor the situation and see how it will develop. Interestingly, Great Britain and France are waking up, so the results from those countries will certainly be much better compared to the past two years."

The director of the Bol Tourist Board said that Vitar Hotel opened in Bol and that Bretanide Hotel will open its doors to guests next weekend. Bluesun hotels are undergoing a thorough renovation, so they are expected to open in early June.

"If we managed to be at 70 percent last year, then this year we can be at 80 to 90 percent of tourist traffic," Marinković concluded.
