ZAGREB, April 23, 2018 - The Slovenian government on Monday asked the European Commission to become involved in efforts to settle a Slovenian-Croatian dispute that concerns the so-called untransferred savings deposits of Croatian clients of the Zagreb-based branch of the now defunct Slovenian bank Ljubljanska Banka, saying in a letter to EC President Jean-Claude Juncker and other senior EC officials that the continuation of legal proceedings before Croatian courts concerning the dispute was contrary to European and international law.

ZAGREB, April 21, 2018 - The President of the European Union Court of Justice Koen Lenaerts has expressed doubts about the legal path Slovenia has chosen after it sent a letter to the European Commission announcing a lawsuit against Croatia regarding the two countries border arbitration process, stressing that the best solution is for Slovenia and Croatia to present the case to the EU Court of Justice in agreement.

ZAGREB, April 18, 2018 - Croatia has sent a written response to the European Commission following a complaint by Slovenia that it is in breach of EU law because it does not recognise the border arbitration ruling, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić said in an interview with the HRT public broadcaster on Tuesday evening. "We have had until today to send our response and we have done so. I think we presented valid arguments in response to their letter," she said.

ZAGREB, April 18, 2018 - The Slovenian government on Thursday will make the first compensation payments to its citizens who live in Croatia in border areas which Slovenia considered contentious before the arbitration ruling and who wish to resettle in Slovenia under favourable conditions they were promised by Prime Minister Miro Cerar.
