ZAGREB, February 27, 2018 - The president of the Croatian Exporters association Darinko Bago said on Tuesday that exporters were extremely unhappy with the lack of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with the US and that they were also unhappy with the central bank's exchange rate policy.
If the VAT rate remains the highest in the Mediterranean, the tourism industry will lose 2.5 billion euro in potential investments by 2030.
ZAGREB, February 7, 2018 - A real estate tax will not be introduced and I am convinced that because the value of properties has to be ascertained first, introducing that tax will not be possible in this government's term, Minister of Construction and Physical Planning Predrag Štromar said on Wednesday. ZAGREB, January 23, 2018 - Room to reduce the standard VAT rate of 25% in Croatia can be created only if state spending is rationalised in the long run, and even then it is possibly wiser to reduce labour and capital taxes, reads a Public Finance Institute (IJF) publication entitled "Proposals for New VAT Rates in the EU".
While the 25% general VAT rate will not be reduced anytime soon, the government now has the option of abolishing VAT altogether for one group of products or services.
