August 8, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Dubrovnik.
Croatian Aviation reports that low-budget German airline Eurowings plans to connect Dubrovnik with four destinations in Germany in September this year.
Eurowings has launched its lines to all destinations in Croatia except Dubrovnik, but the company plans to change that from the end of this month. Namely, Eurowings will launch four international flights to Dubrovnik Airport this summer season, but with a minimum number of weekly flights on the following routes:
Dusseldorf - Dubrovnik, from August 30, once a week (Sunday),
Cologne - Dubrovnik, from September 6, once a week (Sunday),
Berlin - Dubrovnik, from September 6, once a week (Sunday),
Hamburg - Dubrovnik, from September 6, once a week (Sunday).
A319 and A320 aircraft are planned on all routes, the backbone of the airline's network on flights within Europe.
Eurowings was significantly present in Dubrovnik last summer, but in this year's summer flight schedule, it did not run routes to this airport. However, in September, the company will, although only once a week, connect the four German cities with Dubrovnik Airport.
Furthermore, Hainan Airlines, one of the largest Chinese airlines, landed at Dubrovnik Airport on Friday!
The A330-200 aircraft took off from the Chinese city of Chongqing at 3:22 pm local time, transporting approximately 150 Chinese workers who will be engaged in the construction of the Peljesac Bridge. The plane was scheduled to land at Dubrovnik Airport at around 7:30 pm, after more than 10 hours on a direct flight from China. The plane will take off from Dubrovnik to China Saturday morning.
The aircraft with registration number B-5963 is only 6 years old and can carry a total of 214 passengers (36 in business and 178 passengers in economy class). This is the first direct flight from China organized exclusively for workers from the Peljesac Bridge.

August 7, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Split and Dubrovnik.
Croatian Aviation reports that Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced its flight schedule for August in which it will significantly reduce the number of weekly flights to Split Airport.
This well-known Scandinavian airline launched traffic at the end of June to Split Airport from three destinations: Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo. Lines from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Split operated daily (mainly A320 aircraft), while the Oslo - Split route operated 5 to 6 times a week.
But that will change from mid-August. Namely, from August 15, the Copenhagen - Split line will operate only once a week, every Saturday, and the same will be the case with the Stockholm - Split line, which will also operate once a week (Saturday).
The Oslo - Split line will operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) from 9 August, and from August 15, this line will also run once a week (Saturdays).
The second destination in Croatia for SAS this summer was Pula Airport, where the company operated regularly once a week on the line from Copenhagen (Saturdays). Tickets are on sale for flights until August 15, after which, it is likely, the line will end with traffic for this summer season.
Brussels Airlines has announced its flight schedule for August, in which lines from Brussels to Split and Dubrovnik will continue to operate this month.
As announced earlier, Brussels Airlines launched traffic on the route to Dubrovnik on June 27 this year and operates twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday with A319 and A320 aircraft.
The line will continue to operate through August, but from August 22, only once a week. Namely, the flight is canceled on Tuesdays and only the flight on Saturdays, A320 aircraft, remain in traffic. Brussels Airlines is holding flights to Dubrovnik until October 10, but we will monitor the situation and announce any changes.
The second Brussels line in Croatia, to Split, operates once a week (also on Saturdays), which will continue until mid-September (September 19). After the mentioned date, the company no longer offers direct flights on the Brussels - Split route.
We remind you that before the corona pandemic, this airline planned flights to Zadar and Zagreb, but those routes were completely canceled. Croatia Airlines operates on a direct route between Zagreb and Brussels.

August 5, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik.
Croatian Airlines reports that Aegean Airlines, a Star Alliance member, previously announced the start of traffic to three Croatian airports (Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb) from September this year. All flights to the mentioned destinations have been canceled for this year.
Before the pandemic, Aegean Airlines planned to operate to three destinations in Croatia from Athens (Eleftherios Venizelos Airport). The start of traffic was first postponed to September, and now all flights to Croatia have been canceled for this year.
Lines to Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik were supposed to operate with a smaller number of weekly flights compared to last summer season, but due to weak demand, the company completely canceled flights on these routes and does not intend to launch them this year.
This left the airports in Split and Zagreb without a direct connection with the Greek capital. Croatia Airlines operates on the route Zagreb - Athens with a stop in Dubrovnik, so the flight between the two capitals is not direct. The Zagreb - Athens (via Dubrovnik) route of Croatia Airlines continues to operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday on the DashQ400 aircraft, with a capacity of 76 passengers.
It should also be mentioned that Volotea also canceled flights from Dubrovnik and Split to Athens until the end of the summer flight schedule.
Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reported that as of Sunday, August 2, Turkish Airlines is operating fewer weekly flights on the Istanbul - Zagreb route.
In July, Turkish Airlines operated five times a week on the Istanbul - Zagreb route, but since the beginning of August, there has been a reduction in the number of weekly flights. Throughout August, the company will operate on the mentioned line only four times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, flights will take place on Mondays and Fridays in the evening, and Wednesdays and Sundays in the morning.
Smaller capacity aircraft (mainly A319) have been announced on the route. It is worth mentioning that before the outbreak of the pandemic, Turkish Airlines flew to Zagreb twice a day, transporting a large number of passengers from Asia, and these tourists are almost non-existent in Croatia this year. The company has repeatedly adjusted its capacity on the line by introducing larger aircraft, such as the A330, but this will probably not be necessary this year.
The second line of Turkish Airlines in Croatia, to Dubrovnik, was previously announced for September. However, all flights have been postponed and the company is currently offering flights in October, though they will soon be canceled. In fact, Turkish Airlines will not return to Dubrovnik Airport this year.

August 1, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zadar, Pula, and Brac.
Croatian Aviation reports that Serbian national airline Air Serbia no longer has direct flights from Belgrade to Pula and Zadar.
The long-standing seasonal line between Belgrade and Pula should have resumed regular traffic from the beginning of July, but this did not happen. Three flights per week were announced, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the planned fourth weekly flight (every Sunday) was previously canceled for the entire summer season.
Air Serbia planned to use an ATR 72-500 aircraft on the route, which has a capacity of 70 passengers in the fleet of this carrier.
The company established the Belgrade - Pula line in June 2014 and has been operating on this line regularly so far, but due to the specific situation this year, it decided not to launch it. All flights on this route have been withdrawn from sale for this year, so it is obvious that the company does not intend to operate between these two cities.
Recall that even during the outbreak of the pandemic, Air Serbia completely canceled the line to Rijeka.
The Belgrade - Zadar line was launched in the summer of 2019 with two flights per week (Fridays and Sundays) and was announced for this summer season as well. Just as is the case with the line to Pula, the plan was to launch the line in early July, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but that did not happen. The company no longer offers direct flights to Zadar.
Air Serbia currently operates to Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik, but cancellations of certain departures on routes to Croatia (especially to Zagreb) are not uncommon.
Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that the German charter company Sundair announced a regular charter line between Frankfurt and Brac from mid-July this year. However, there were no flights on this line.
The Frankfurt - Brac line was to be operated twice a week, every Monday and Friday, from July 17 this year until the end of October (October 23, 2020). This would give Brac its first route to Frankfurt, and in addition, a regular guest at this airport would be A319 aircraft.
The line has been completely canceled for this summer season, and since it is a regular charter, it can be assumed that travel agencies that sold holiday arrangements on Brac failed to achieve satisfactory sales.

Croatian Aviation reports that from the beginning of August, Split Airport will be connected to Munich as many as 13 times a week, which is a larger number of flights compared to July this year.
At the beginning of August, Split Airport will have 13 weekly direct flights to Munich Airport, and Lufthansa and Croatia Airlines will continue to operate on the routes.
Direct flights from Split from August 1 are available every day of the week, mostly in the morning, which allows passengers from Split numerous connections via this German airport. DashQ400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 passengers in the Croatia Airlines fleet will continue to operate on the route.

July 28, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb, Split and Zadar.
As confirmed by the Spanish national airline, Croatian Aviation reports that Iberia will not establish traffic on direct flights from Madrid to Zagreb, Zadar and Split in this year's summer flight schedule.
Last summer, Iberia introduced the Madrid-Zadar line, which operated twice a week until the end of August, and the company will not launch this line this summer due to the global pandemic.
The only year-round route of this airline in Croatia, the one to Zagreb, will also not return to traffic until the end of the summer flight schedule. For now, only one flight per week has been announced (Friday) in the winter flight schedule, but the company is still considering this option and will most likely not fly to the Croatian capital even in the winter flight schedule.
On the Madrid-Split line last season, it was possible to travel every day, but due to reduced demand, Iberia will not connect the two mentioned cities this summer.
The only Iberia line already in service, the one between Madrid and Dubrovnik, continues to operate through August. The line has operated 3 times a week so far, but from the end of this month the company will add another 2 flights per week, so Iberia planes will land in Dubrovnik every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For comparison, last summer, Iberia planes landed in Dubrovnik, in the peak season, as many as 15 times a week.
Recall, Croatian Aviation announced earlier that German airline Lufthansa has announced its flight schedule for August, in which it plans to maintain operations to five Croatian airports: Zagreb, Pula, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik.
The company operated to destinations in Croatia with many more weekly flights last summer season, but this year, the number of destinations and flights themselves has been significantly reduced. The only Lufthansa line to Rijeka (Munich - Rijeka) was canceled, and the company did not resume traffic on the Frankfurt - Zagreb line either.
Through August, Lufthansa will operate from Munich and Frankfurt to Croatia according to the following schedule:
Frankfurt - Dubrovnik, 3 times a week (every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday)
Munich - Dubrovnik, 5 times a week (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Frankfurt - Split, 4 times a week (every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Munich - Split, 5 times a week (every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Frankfurt - Pula, 3 times a week (every Monday, Friday and Saturday)
Munich - Pula, 2 times a week (every Saturday and Sunday)
Frankfurt - Zadar, 3 times a week (every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday)
Munich - Zadar, 1 per week (every Saturday)
Munich - Zagreb, 4 times a week (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).
As we mentioned, Lufthansa has canceled the Munich - Rijeka line for this summer season, and currently has no plans to launch the Frankfurt - Zagreb line. Croatia Airlines operates on both mentioned lines. Until the end of August, Lufthansa will operate 30 weekly flights to five Croatian airports from two destinations in Germany: Munich and Frankfurt.
Furthermore, Croatian Aviation also announced that Swiss and Edelweiss will continue to operate to three Croatian airports through August, in a significantly reduced flight schedule compared to the summer season 2019.
As confirmed by these two airlines, the number of weekly flights on flights to Croatia from Switzerland will not increase in August, but the companies have confirmed the flights and will operate on them safely.
This summer, Swiss has only one line to Croatia, the one between Geneva and Dubrovnik, which will operate only once a week in August, every Saturday, on an A220-300 aircraft with a capacity of 160 passengers. The line has been announced until the end of August and will most likely not be available in September.
Edelweiss operates towards Dubrovnik, Split and Pula, which it will continue to do next month.
The company operates on the line Zurich - Dubrovnik once a week, every Friday, while the line Zurich - Pula will continue to be maintained once a week, every Saturday. Larger capacity aircraft, type A320 (174 seats), operate on both routes.
The only line on which Edelweiss operates with a slightly larger number of weekly flights is the one between Zurich and Split. Namely, throughout August, the company will operate on this line 4 times a week (every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday).
Swiss used to operate between Zurich and Zagreb, but that line was canceled before the pandemic broke out. Today, only Croatia Airlines operates on the Zagreb - Zurich route.

July 25, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, and Zadar.
Croatian AviationCroatian Aviation reports that Austrian Airlines has announced its flight schedule for August this year. It contains several operational changes on the lines to destinations in Croatia.
The company will continue to operate to four Croatian airports in August; Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Zagreb. While the existing number of weekly flights to Dubrovnik and Split will be maintained, there will be some changes on the routes from Vienna to Zadar and Zagreb.
The Vienna - Dubrovnik line will continue to operate as many as 6 times a week (every day except Tuesday), with the 320 aircraft.
The Vienna - Split route will also operate 6 times a week (every day except Tuesday), with the aircraft of the same capacity as to Dubrovnik.
This year's new Austrian Airlines route between Vienna and Zadar will operate more frequently from the beginning of August - 4 times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays), which is one flight a week more than in July.
The Vienna - Zagreb line will continue to operate 8 times a week from August 1 to 15, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the morning, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays in the afternoon. Two flights a day are available every Thursday. The stated number of weekly flights will be in effect until mid-August, more precisely until August 15.
From August 16, Austrian Airlines will reduce the number of weekly flights on the route between the two capitals, and will operate 5 times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays) exclusively in the afternoon. Smaller capacity aircraft, such as the DashQ400 and E195, have been announced on the route.
Croatian Aviation also reported that Helvetic Airways, a Swiss regional airline, previously announced POP-UP flights to Brac, and now it has launched flights on the route Zurich - Dubrovnik!
As we have already announced, this airline will operate one-off flights on the route Zurich - Brac.
Along with Brac, the company launched the Zurich - Dubrovnik line. One flight is offered, and on Friday, August 14, Helvetic should land at Dubrovnik Airport at 11:50 am. The return flight is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at 6 pm from Dubrovnik Airport, with arrival in Zurich at 8 pm.
This allows tourists from Switzerland a direct flight to Dubrovnik, with a short 3-day vacation in the famous Croatian tourist destination. There are 112 seats on sale on this line.
Helvetic Airways has introduced "POP-UP" flights in order to better respond to the current situation and enable its passengers to rest in well-known European destinations.
Furthermore, Ex Yu Aviation reports that Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) began a new one weekly service between Kyiv and Split, which will run until September 26. The new route will run on Saturdays and were introduced last weekend with the airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

July 24, 2020 - The latest news from around Croatia’s airports for flights to Croatia with updates from Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, and Pula.
Croatian Aviation reports that Qatar Airways has canceled flights on the Zagreb-Doha route until mid-August. There have been frequent cancellations on this line in recent weeks.
Qatar Airways resumed traffic to Zagreb on July 1 this year, reconnecting Doha and Zagreb 3 times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) with the A320 aircraft.
Due to reduced demand, the company has often canceled certain departures on this route since the beginning of re-operation, and now all flights on this line have been canceled until mid-August.
Traffic should resume from Wednesday, August 12, when the Qatar Airways aircraft should fly on this route again. Recall that this carrier operated twice a day between Doha and Zagreb in the summer, in the morning and the evening, but there was a significant reduction in the number of weekly flights due to reduced demand due to the impact of the global pandemic.
Croatian Aviation also reports that FlyDubai, a company that closely links its business to Emirates, will not fly on a seasonal route to Dubrovnik this year.
The company previously announced the operation of its B737-800 aircraft on the Dubai-Dubrovnik route twice a week this summer season, but all flights have been canceled until the end of the summer flight schedule and the company does not intend to launch them this year.
Considering that many tourists from Asia came to Dubrovnik with this line, which is almost non-existent in our country this year, the cancellation of this line is a logical step of the company.
FlyDubai operates on the Dubai-Zagreb route in winter, instead of Emirates. After Emirates canceled all flights on this route for this year, FlyDubai should work on the same from the end of October this year. FlyDubai has not yet made a final decision on whether this line will operate in the winter flight schedule, and there is a possibility of its cancellation, which would leave Zagreb without a direct connection with Dubai after many years.
Finally, Croatian Aviation reports that before the outbreak of the pandemic, Windrose Airlines announced the launch of a new route to Croatia, between Kyiv and Zagreb. The company ultimately canceled the line for this year, but introduced flights to its third destination in Croatia.
The company planned to launch the first direct line between Zagreb and Kyiv three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), then postponed it until the winter flight schedule this year due to the pandemic, only to cancel it now. Windrose Airlines could return to Zagreb with this new route in the summer of 2021.
But that is why the company announced an increase in weekly flights between Kyiv and Pula, and as of July 23, it operates on this route three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), and regular operations are planned until mid-September.
Interestingly, Windrose Airlines sent an ATR 72-600 aircraft on this route for the first time yesterday. The journey with this smaller type of aircraft took 3 hours and 40 minutes from Kyiv to Pula! The line is regularly operated by aircraft of higher capacity type A321.
The Kyiv-Split line will continue to operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) in August, on A321 aircraft.
Despite giving up the launch of the Kyiv-Zagreb route this year, Windrose Airlines connected, for the first time, the capital of Ukraine with Dubrovnik, and amid the pandemic, launched a new route to Croatia.
The Kyiv-Dubrovnik line has been in traffic from July 17, once a week (every Friday), and traffic will run regularly until the end of August, specifically until August 28 this year. ERJ145 aircraft with a capacity of 48 passengers operate on this route.
