SDP Leader Criticises Government, Živi Zid

ZAGREB, April 30, 2018 - Despite polls indicating that the Social Democratic Party's (SDP) rating is falling while that of Živi Zid is growing and is within 4% of the SDP, the party's leader Davor Bernardić said on Monday that the SDP is growing and strengthening whereas the Živi Zid is a protest party that doesn't have a stance on important matters such as anti-fascism, violence against women, relations with the Church, religious instruction in schools, abortion or the LGBT community.

Government’s Thin Majority in Parliament Becomes Even Thinner

ZAGREB, April 11, 2018 - Member of parliament Hrvoje Zekanović of the HRAST party told a news conference on Wednesday that his party was leaving the ruling coalition and all positions in government structures over the planned ratification of the Istanbul Convention, which also meant that it would withhold its support for Economy Minister Martina Dalić in a coming parliamentary vote on her impeachment.

Parliament to Debate Istanbul Convention Ratification

ZAGREB, April 11, 2018 – The parliament will debate the ratification of the Istanbul Convention on Wednesday. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Tuesday evening commented on the Croatian Bishops' Conference's (HBK) opposition to the ratification of the Istanbul Convention and its call on members of the parliament to vote against the ratification of the document whose content the HBK claims raises numerous doubts and uncertainties.
