October 14, 2019 - The future tourism development of the Cetina region will be based on the development of active and adventure tourism and untouched natural beauties. It will be presented under the slogan "Untamed Dalmatia".
On Monday, the results of the promotional activities for the project 'Sinj u sridu', an integrated program financed by European funds, aimed at the reconstruction, renovation, and revitalization of cultural assets of the City of Sinj for their greater valorization, were presented at the Sinj City Hall. The project partner responsible for the implementation of the promotional activities was the Public Institution RERA S.D. for the coordination and development of Split-Dalmatia County (JU RERA S.D.). This resulted in a mobile application and web portal for the Cetina region and a promotional catalog of cultural heritage in Croatian, English, Italian, and German. The framework for these activities was provided by the Cetina Krajina Branding Strategy.
The mobile application "Cetinska Krajina" and the web portal www.cetinska-krajina.hr have been developed to meet the needs of visitors who are motivated by the desire for new experiences and experiences, gastronomy and enjoying the beauties of natural heritage. The app is available for Android and iOS devices, and one of the special features is that visitors can use the navigation tool to create a tour route to their preferences. Nineteen cycling trails in the area of Sinj, Trilj, and Vrlika have also been integrated into the mobile application.
The presentation was attended by the mayor of Sinj, Kristina Krizanac, Jozo Sarac, director of JU RERA for the Coordination and Development of Split-Dalmatia County, Feđa Milivojevic from Urbanex Ltd., creator of the branding strategy, Martina Horvat from Kocka d.o.o., in charge of developing the mobile application and web portal Cetinska krajina, as well as other representatives from the tourism sector in the Split-Dalmatia County region.
"The goal of 'Sinj u sridu' is to encourage stronger valorization of the natural and cultural heritage of this region and ultimately increase the employment and standard of living of our fellow citizens. We want Sinj not only alive in August when the Alka and the Assumption of Mary are held, but also the rest of the year. That is why the renovation project included the fortress Stari grad, Kamičak fortress, Palacina building and streets in the city center, and the Sinjska Alka Museum,” said Križanac.
The director of JU RERA, Jozo Sarac, emphasized: "The final goal of implementing the activities defined by the Cetina Krajina Branding Strategy is to increase the arrival of tourists to this area." Sarac presented the Cetina Krajina Branding Strategy document to the representatives of municipalities and cities, that is, representatives of tourist boards as the bearers of tourism development in the Cetina region.
The branding strategy covered the cities of Sinj, Trilj, and Vrlika and the municipalities of Dicmo, Hrvace and Otok. The tourism potential of the area is articulated in the Branding Strategy, which also defines the visual identity of the Cetina region, the brand and communication strategy and the action plan for the implementation of the Branding Strategy. Future tourism development of the Cetina region should be based on the development of active and adventure tourism and untouched natural beauties. It should be presented under the slogan 'Untamed Dalmatia'.
The 'Sinj u sridu' project, as well as the development of promotional materials and the implementation of promotional activities, were co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund and the Competitiveness and Cohesion Operational Program 2014-2020. October 14, 2019 - The picturesque village of Potravlje is situated at the foot of Svilaja, adjoining the edge of Lake Peruca. It is the cradle of Cetina pottery using a hand wheel, a craft whose beginnings date back to prehistoric antiquity of the 4th century BC. About fifty families kept this centuries-old tradition of making pottery in the Cetina region villages until WWII, and in the Potravlje region, about twenty of them. As far back as 1774, the famous Italian travel writer Alberto Fortis stated that these pots were more durable than those of his homeland.
This was a time when various earthenware, copper pots for cooking milk, or for preparing a turkey and corn polenta, cups for butter and sour milk, or for storing wine and grain, and even pans for grilling were used in households. Barbecue pans, baking trays, bell-shaped lids to cover pastry or other open-hearth dishes, serving plates, bowls, and drinking jars were all needed. Each container was named after its intended use. Today, along with some traditional pots, new forms are also being made, such as amphorae (for tourists), flower pots, and various miniature types of traditional utensils that are offered as souvenirs.
Thus, traditional pottery in Potravlje has been named intangible cultural property.
After a series of successful and highly visited workshops, the Tourist Board of Sinj, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, is organizing an educational workshop "Traditional Handmade Pottery from Potravlje" this year.
This year's workshop will be held on Friday, October 18, at 6:00 pm on the 3rd floor of the Sikirica Gallery. The workshop will be led by Ivan Knezovic, one of the last masters of this traditional craft. The workshop participants, if they wish, will also be able to try making clay pots with the expert assistance of Ivan Knezović.

Commemorative souvenirs have been prepared for all attendees, which will be distributed upon completion of the workshop.

October 5, 2019 - Rožarica, or Our Lady of the Rosary, is a holiday that is especially marked in the area of Vrlika - and because of its rich program, it is not exclusively religious. It is a time when the people of Vrlika gather, who are traditionally very attached and proud of their region. And this time of year, they rush home to commemorate this holiday with fellow locals and their guests.
Seemingly only a small town in Inland Dalmatia, Vrlika is unusually rich in traditional amenities and a cultural heritage that is carefully guarded - whether it be indigenous desserts from Vrlika’s cuisine, such as the famous uštipak, or genuinely unique intangible goods, such as the emblematic comic opera “Ero s onoga svijeta”, which over time has become a true ambassador for Vrlika in the world.
There is no better time to experience this picturesque town and its surroundings. You can check out the program of events below.

September 19, 2019 - The first-ever Dugopolje Beer Fest will take place this Saturday!
The month of September is special for residents of the Dugopolje municipality. It is the month in which they celebrate their patron saint, St. Michael, and the day of their municipality.
This year, September is exceptionally vibrant thanks to various events, and one that is certainly attracting attention is the Dugopolje Beer Fest, which will be held on September 21 at 5 pm at the Homeland Thanksgiving Square, organized by the Association DAR.
"The very idea of organizing an event like this came about very spontaneously. Namely, the beer festival originally called Beer Fest is increasingly present in cities all over Croatia. This is supported by the fact that until ten years ago, there were three styles of beer and a dozen breweries, and today there are over seventy breweries in Croatia, and the styles are no longer counted. Also, Beer Fest is an event that entails good music, even better food, and as a product of that - a guaranteed top-notch party," said Ivan Čulin, a DAR volunteer.
The breweries presenting at the first Beer Fest in Dugopolje are Dragon Brewery, Crafter's Brewery, Medvedgrad Brewery, Barilo Brewery, Tap B Brewery, Sibenik Brewery, LAB Split Brewery, and Familia Craft Brewery. To further guarantee the ultimate entertainment, guests will be entertained by the bands Iluzija and Go Lilly, and stand-up comedian Josip Skiljo will be the presenter of the evening.
As for the food, visitors will have the opportunity to try homemade sausages, hot dogs, chili with meat, various salty pastries, and soparnik. Other associations from Dugopolje will assist in the preparation and serving of food, and in addition to the entertainment and fun, the Dugopolje Beer Fest will also care for the environment.
Namely, as part of the EU project "Thinking Eco-logically", DAR has provided glasses and cutlery made from biodegradable materials, thus marking ecology and recycling throughout the evening. The event is sponsored by the Dugopolje Municipality and the Dugopolje Tourist Board.

September 17, 2019 - The Museum of the Trilj Region, in cooperation with the Sports Association Gaz, and with the support of the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County and the City of Trilj, for the first time organizes the Pons Tiluri event - a bridge between the worlds.
The purpose of the event is to present to visitors, in a fun and educational way, three critical events from ancient history that preceded the development of Pons Tiluri - today's Trilj.
Storytelling methods for expert tours of museums and sites and "reviving history" are becoming increasingly popular in the world of cultural heritage interpretation, based on the principle of authentic depictions of historical periods and events.
The Pons Tiluri manifestation - a bridge between the worlds, consists of three acts, or staged historical events in three different locations:
1st Location - the courtyard of the Museum of the Trilj region
- Staging the Great Pannonian-Dalmatian Uprising, also known as the Bellum Batonianum, which took place between AD 6–9, leading to the final breakdown of the resistance in Illyria and the administrative division into the provinces of Pannonia and Dalmatia.
2nd Location - Roman Legionary Camp Tilurium (Centuria - Probe A) in Gardun village
- Staging an evening for Roman soldiers (Latin corpora curae), from preparing food to games, hygiene, body care and the like
- changing of the guard
3rd Location - Suspension Bridge in Trilj
- Staging the dedication of the Roman bridge to the supreme god Jupiter and the deity of the river Cetina (ant. Hypuss). The wooden bridge was probably built at the beginning of the 3rd century and was located between the modern road bridge and the 'hanging' bridge in Trilj.
The event will take place on September 20, starting at 5 pm at the Museum of the Trilj Region, Don Ante Bućana 3, Trilj.
Visitors are asked to come by car as public transportation to Tilurij (3 km away from the Museum) will not be provided.

September 13, 2019 - The Municipality of Dugopolje has announced a program to celebrate the Municipality Day, which generally lasts for the whole of September, with an emphasis on the end of the month, i.e., September 29 and 30, when the feast of the patron saints, St. Michael and Jerome, is celebrated.
After a memorial football tournament was held last week, the sports program continues with a children's football cup organized by NK Dugopolje, a football tournament for veterans and a handball and basketball tournament for children and youth.
The cultural program has already hosted the 5th edition of the Literary Evenings ''Voice to the Word'' and an exhibition of academic painters of the Studio-21 Gallery, organized by the National Library in Dugopolje, but we can still look forward to the fourth Klapa meeting on September 28th.
Regarding the religious program, on Saturday, September 14, the traditional Holy Mass will be held at the Chapel of Croatian Martyrs, in the Šatorak area on Mount Mosor, and on September 29 and 30, beginning at 10 am, the feasts of St. Michael and Jerome will be celebrated.
The folk festivities for the Municipal Day on Sunday 29 September will be marked with a concert by singer Jole and a vibrant gastronomic program organized by associations from the Dugopolje area.
As for the new developments in comparison to previous years, on September 18, on the slopes of Mount Mosor, the second stage of the international mountain trail running race “Dalmatia Stage Run” will be held, and Saturday, September 21 is reserved for the EU project 'Thinking Ecologically' while marking a car-free day in Europe. The evening program continues with the Dugopolje Beer Fest, presenting small Croatian craft breweries with an accompanying gastronomy and music program.
