ZAGREB, April 18, 2018 - The nongovernmental organisations "Are you Syrious" and the Centre for Peace Studies (CMS) and representatives of a law firm hired to protect refugees' rights said on Wednesday that the Ministry of the Interior and police were exerting pressure on them with the aim of diverting the public's attention from an investigation into the death of six-year-old Afghan migrant girl Madina Hosseini.

IT Education Offered to Refugees in Croatia

ZAGREB, April 12, 2018 - The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Croatia and the Institute for Youth Development and Innovativity (IRIM) on Thursday signed an agreement of cooperation that will provide workshops for refugees so that they can learn computer programming and, in that way, be better included in society and the labour market.

UNHCR Praises Croatia for Attitude towards Refugee

ZAGREB, April 11, 2018 - The representative of the agency of the United Nations' High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Croatia Giuseppe DiCaro has said that Croatia is setting a positive example of care for refugees from Syria and other Middle East countries, by accommodating 560 refugees and helping 100 of them to find work.

Three Persons Injured on Migrant Route in Croatia

ZAGREB, April 10, 2018 - Three migrants were seriously injured after jumping from a bridge over the River Mrežnica near Generalski Stol in the night between Monday and Tuesday while fleeing police. Two have been taken to hospital in Karlovac and one to Ogulin, 50 kilometres south of Zagreb.

ECHR Orders Croatia to Place Refugee Family in Humane Conditions

ZAGREB, April 6, 2018 - The Centre for Peace Studies (CMS) said on Friday the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) had urgently forwarded to the lawyer of the family of an Afghan girl killed last year a decision on a temporary measure ordering the Croatian Interior Ministry to immediately place them in an environment in which they will not be exposed to inhumane or humiliating treatment.

Jesuits Open Refugee Integration Centre in Croatia

ZAGREB, April 5, 2018 - The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) on Thursday opened the SOL Refugee Integration Centre in the eastern Zagreb suburb of Dubrava in an effort to provide support for persons and families granted refugee status in Croatia.
