Croatian Tourist Board Discusses Financial Report and Work Program from 2016

Yesterday, the Main Office of the Croatian Tourist Board met for the 12th session of the Tourism Council of the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ).

The session was led by the Minister of Tourism and President of the Croatian Tourist Board Gari Cappelli, who at the beginning of the session informed council members about the request received by Ratomir Ivičić to be dismissed as the Director of HTZ. During the session, members of the Tourism Council presented the annual financial report and the work program report for the Croatian Tourist Board in 2016. The Supervisory Board presented the report regarding the supervision over the operations of the Croatian Tourist Board for 2016, and the report on the collection of tourist tax in 2016 was also presented. Director Ratomir Ivičić comments below..

”Croatian National Tourist Board in 2016, in terms of content, has dynamically implemented key marketing and other activities that were planned in the annual work program, which contributed to strengthening the power of the brand, better positioning of Croatian tourism in the international tourism market, and the image of Croatia as an attractive tourist destination. It is certain that our actions made a significant contribution to the overall positive results of the movement of tourist traffic for Croatian tourism in general, as well as a significant increase in revenues from tourism,” said director Ivičić.

In relation to the collection of funds from tourist tax, in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2016, the total amount of obligations from the tourist tax amounted to 406,569,498.00 kuna. From this amount, 387,334,449.00 kuna was duly paid, while 24,763,112.00 kuna was unpaid. There is also the unpaid portion from the prior period in the amount of 9,089,560.00 kuna, which makes the the total debt (or unpaid portion) of the tourist tax 3,852,672.00 kuna - noting that there is a total of overpaid funds in the amount of 6,369,721,00 kuna.

Members of the Tourism Council also discussed their decision for the selection of advertising agencies for cooperation in 2017. The decisions were made on the basis of bids submitted by the agency by September 14, 2016. Thus, agency AVIAREPS was selected for the market in the Netherlands, Publicis was selected for the Slovenian market, Localplanet (ProMedia) was selected for the Italian market, and the agency MediaCom will cover the other markets listed in the public call.

The proposal by the Croatian Olympic Committee was accepted for the promotion of Croatian tourism during the Croatian Olympic cycle from 2017-2020. The value of the project amounts to 1,000,000.00 kuna each year, over a period of four years (2017-2020). The Tourism Council has also approved the financial support for the bicycle race "Tour of Croatia” in 2017 in the amount of 4,000,000.00 kuna. 

The Croatian National Tourist Board adopted a decision for a project that includes a national campaign promoting interest in tourism titled ”Days of jobs in tourism" (Dani poslova u turizmu) which will be held in Osijek (March 7), Zagreb (March 14) and Knin ( March 21). Thus, the Croatian National Tourist Board will fund the development of creative videos for the purpose of television campaigns for the project in the amount of 150,000.00 kuna.
