Crikvenica Sees Largest Investment in Tourism with New Project

By 23 February 2017

A tourist village and campsite in Crikvenica will be the largest tourism investment the town has seen.

Jadran d.d. from Crikvenica - a tourist company that has 8 hotels, 2 campsites and a holiday village on the Crikvenica riviera - began preparing the largest investment in the history of the town: a transformation of the tourist village and campsite Kačjak, reports Poslovni.hr on February 23, 2017.

After exiting bankruptcy, Jadran began a large investment cycle which has so far reached nearly 100 million kuna. With the investment, Jadran has thus far erected the categorization of hotel Slaven from two to three stars, Katarina Hotel and Omorika (two of the largest hotels in the group) have been upgraded from two to four stars, and camp Selce has been upgraded to three stars. There has been ongoing work on the reconstruction of hotel Esplanade, which should be the best hotel in the group, and hotel Katarina will soon see new conference rooms, a wellness center, and a swimming pool. With all of these investments, Jadran is busily preparing projects for further investment as part of the planned strategic business plan by 2025.

The largest investment is certainly for the tourist resort and campground Kačjak which is located on the peninsula in the village Dramalj, only four kilometers from Crikvenica. On the famous peninsula in 1964, 12 pavilions and 35 bungalows were built that include tennis and basketball courts, a mini golf course, bowling alley, a central restaurant, night club and reception and cocktail bar.

The strategic business plan by Jadran provides for the transformation of the existing facilities to four star accommodations of the international ”upper midscale" standard. With this transformation, the resort will attract groups of special interests and guests of all ages with medium spending power. The aim of the resort will be to provide an active summer holiday in the sun and at the beach with plenty of entertainment, and recreation and sports facilities in an attractive natural setting.

The spatial plan the city of Crikvenica envisaged is to transform the existing structures to a high-class capacity of 900 beds in the tourist village and 200 beds in the camp. Jadran is already in the planning stages to provide the possibility of raising additional categories in line with future market requirements.

"This project is a really big challenge for us because it is an extremely attractive area with a planned investment of over 18 million euros. After settling property relations, which was also a big challenge, we want our guests to be provided with an active summer vacation in a beautiful and natural setting on the beach with animation, and we also want to pay special attention to groups of special interest in the pre and post season with programs of adventure tourism. Given the size of the project, as well as the amount of investment, this is certainly the largest capital project in the history of Crikvenica, and it is our desire that this project is implemented to the satisfaction of all citizens and our guests,” concluded Dino Manestar, CEO of Jadran d.d.
