As we announced back in January, Emirates will directly connect Zagreb and Dubai every day, year-round, from June 1, 2017.
“We are very interested in football, we are a sponsor of Real Madrid, and we love Luka Modrić. He may even be one of the passengers in our first year,” said Thierry Antinori from Emirates yesterday at ITB Berlin, the world's largest tourism trade fair. Emirates will connect Zagreb and Dubai with daily flights beginning on June 1, 2017. The airline will connect the two cities year-round, reports Poslovni.hr on March 11, 2017.
Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East and one of the best in the world, as voted by passengers. The airline conducts nearly 4,000 flights a week, connecting Dubai with 150 cities in 70 countries.
"We are very pleased that we will connect Zagreb with Emirates, but also with the Middle East, Asia, Australia ... Croatia will be virtually connected to 40 cities in this part of the world, and the expected occupancy rate on this flight is around 70-80 percent. I am sure that this line will bring new tourists to Croatia which will contribute to economic cooperation,” added Antinori. Zagreb and Dubai will be connected by a Boeing 777-300, with first class cabins offered. Fares to Dubai are about 3,000 kuna.
The Croatian Tourism Minister, Gari Cappelli, is also pleased.
"This is an opportunity for Croatia to get closer to Asia and to penetrate new markets," says Cappelli, who, encouraged by the talks in Berlin, said there should be 10 percent more visitors and revenue in 2017. This could mean more than one million new tourists this year.
"All the news is positive, and not only for the coast. The airline Euro Wings is seriously considering a seasonal line from Stuttgart-Osijek that would be offered throughout the whole year and would increase the number of seats to Croatia by 43 percent,” concluded Cappelli.
