We've entered that wonderful time of year when going out for a drink means sitting outside on a terrace and enjoying a warm pleasant evening. How about a beer... or three? BEERanje, the biggest craft beer festival in Primorsko-goranska County, is coming back for its third edition on the weekend of 26-27 May!
After two editions in Rijeka, the festival is moving to the nearby town of Crikvenica this year, where it will take place on the waterfront in the centre. The best Croatian craft breweries are coming with vast reserves of high-quality beer: Zmajska, Varionica, Razum, Bura Brew, Pulfer, Lepi Dečki brewery, Mlinarica, Kings Caffe, LAB Split brewery, BaD brewery and Daruvar brewery. The brewers will be there to personally work the taps, so you'll get a chance to meet them all and find out everything you wanted to know about the craft.
As part of the festival, there will be a contest for the best beer and the best brewery, chosen by the visitors who'll cast votes on ballots. Every beer will be graded on a scale of 1 to 10, the highest average score deciding on the winners. In a special category, the other best beer will be selected by the festival judge Marko Ožegović, one of the administrators of the famous website ratebeer.com, who is constantly searching for new beers to taste and add to his inventory of 4800 rated beer brands!
To ensure you don't get dizzy from enthusiastic beer tasting, food stands will be offering a great selection of grilled wonders, including fiorentina steaks, BBQ chicken, beer braised sausages and ćevapčići. As every festival also needs a good music background, the legendary local band En Face will be playing on Friday 26 May, while the hard rock band Keops will perform on Saturday.
The event is organised by Kontanje production and Crikvenica Tourist board, and the entrance is free on both evenings. Save the date, come support the local brewers and enjoy the feast!
