Croatian Airports to Put Focus on Non-Traditional Markets

By 8 August 2017

Croatia will be focusing on long-haul flights to South Korea, Taiwan, and China, EX-YU Aviation reports.

Gari Cappelli, Croatian Tourism Minister, said that Croatia is currently in talks with a number of far-away markets, Far East and the Middle East in particular, EX-YU Aviation reports on August 8.

In an interview to Globus, Minister Cappeli said "The Ministry's strategic goal is to develop Croatia as a destination which is accessible to various airlines, particularly before and after the height of the summer season. We are directing a part of our funds towards closer cooperation with carriers, which will result in more flights to all of our airports. We are turning towards the Far East and the Middle East. Since January, we have been in talks with a number of large global and European airlines, as well as tour operators. I am certain that the result of these talks will be visible next year with a strong increase in visitors from non-traditional markets," putting an emphasis on South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan as key markets.

There are now summer charters to Zagreb and Dubrovnik, operated by Korean Air and ANA (Japan), and the Minister announced recently that connecting Zadar to China is on the Ministry’s agenda as well, and there have also been talks of introducing seasonal flights to the USA.
