Trip to the Green Heart of Croatia - Gorski Kotar (VIDEO)

By 16 August 2017

If you're looking for your next weekend destination in Croatia, look no further than Gorski Kotar.

I love how diverse Croatia is and, at the same time, hate how little time I have to see more of it.

I think that Gorski Kotar is one of the two parts of Croatia (the second one being Slavonia) that I’ve never set foot in. You know how you mostly travel with friends and go someplace someone has a house at - well, I've been lucky enough to visit the coast, the islands, bits of Inland Dalmatia and Istria, Zagreb and its surroundings, but a chance to visit the gorgeous mountainous part of Croatia.

After seeing a great video by Mesmerized about a weekend spent at Kozji vrh Holiday Home, I honestly can’t wait to go to Gorski Kotar.

Situated in the northern part of Gorski Kotar, near Čabar, Kozji vrh is a hamlet located at 920 m above sea level. This is the true green heart of Croatia, a place where you can escape summer heat or enjoy the endless white tranquillity during winter.

Rivers, mountains, wild animals that you can see in their natural habitat, riding horses, hiking, feeding the animals, trying some great food, visiting the deepest river source in Croatia, or staying in a town in the middle of a forest – Gorski Kotar should definitely be your next Croatian travel destination.

You can get there from Zagreb in about 2.5 hours. Find out how here.

If we haven’t convinced you, these gorgeous videos posted by Mesmerized on August 16, 2017, most definitely will.
