October 18, 2018 - Taking Google Street View technology to the seaside, a first for Croatia in Rogoznica.
The world is getting smaller, and information is far more accessible. For people planning a holiday these days, it is becoming easier and easier to get almost the whole tourism experience via the Internet without leaving home. Features such as Google Street View have mapped large parts of the planet, allowing viewers to visualise the roads they will be travelling.
In a first for Croatia, the municipality of Rogoznica has taken this technology further, with the first Google 'Sea View' virtual tour in Croatia, allowing future tourists to get a real feel of the destination before they decide to book. The virtual tour includes 8 settlements in Rogoznica, as well as many pedestrianised parts of the destination, which are home to the main attractions. And the gorgeous coast and harbour.
"Every year, we are trying to further promote our destination promotion, and we are therefore very pleased to have successfully implemented this Google Street View project. Google Maps is the world's largest number of users with hundreds of millions of views and is therefore of the utmost importance to be well-represented and high-quality. In addition, these are the charts on which most of the navigation devices are based on smart phones, with the help of smart phones, which help our guests are to get to the destination. By bringing Google Street View to virtually every accommodation facility in our municipality, we have made it possible for guests to virtually complete their entire route before they arrive and come literally to the front door of their future accommodation facility. This will greatly help them find the destination they want, as they will feel as if they were there and our local hosts will be able to welcome them quietly in their own property. In terms of navigation devices, it is very important that Google Street View is one of the main factors that Google makes adjustments to its own navigation system so that future navigational devices in the Rogoznica municipality area should be significantly more precise, which will also contribute to the satisfaction of all users - Marijo Mladinić, Director of the Tourist Office, said.
The project was realised as a partnership between the Rogoznica Tourist Board and Google partner Smokvina Travel from Split. Take a look at Rogoznica harbour here.
