While many supermarkets in Europe offer organic eggs marked as "0" (with the choice of free range eggs marked as "1" and deep litter marked as "2" as well), there is only one option at the supermarkets on the island - eggs marked as "3" from battery cage farming.
But there is an option for all of us, who know how important and healthy eggs are and who know the difference between those 4 numbers on the egg shell - Greenhouse in Hvar is offering free range eggs, always fresh and ready for you to enjoy whether raw or as an omelette.With great many households on the island having a garden with their own hens, It was still surprisingly difficult for me to find a source of free range eggs. It took me many months to find someone to buy eggs from on a regular basis. People mostly have only a few hens and have just about enough eggs for themselves, no need to sell any.
