The owner says that motivated workers are the foundation of a successful business.

Istarski Supermarketi, the largest supermarket chain in Istria, has announced some good news ahead of the holidays. Starting from January, salaries of employees in the retail sector will increase on average by 25 percent. The increase will cover 368 of the 522 employees of the company, reports Glas Istre on December 15, 2017.

The company explained that higher salaries would also be received by employees who will be employed during 2018, and it is anticipated that the measure will ultimately include 550 employees. This is just a continuation of business policies which are the reason why the company has been recognised in the labour market as one of the most desirable employers in Istria.

Ivica Milotić, the owner and the CEO, says that satisfied and motivated workers are the essential prerequisite for a successful business. “Employers ask employees to invest their efforts and time to build the company's success, so it is our duty to show employees that we recognise their contribution to the business. Investing in people is always worth it because satisfied and motivated employees are a prerequisite for long-term business success. Employees in our shops are in touch with customers, and their abilities are crucial to our success. And the level of their abilities is best demonstrated by the success that our company has achieved since the foundation,” says Milotić.

In addition to the increase in salaries, Milotić explains that the employees also have other benefits, such as various gifts, gift vouchers, jubilee awards and bonuses. Additionally, they continually invest in employee development through a number of training programmes and enable their advancement through promotions within the company.

“Istarski Supermarketi primarily nurture a positive working environment. We want to enrich the lives of not only our employees but also their family members. That is why we are often mentioned as one of the most desirable employers in Istria. With such practices, we raise the standards in the whole retail sector. Since customers are our priority, we are aware that we can only achieve this with motivated and educated employees,” says Milotić, adding that the company’s sales network has been continuously growing. It currently has 111 stores in Istria and plans to open a few more next year.

“In addition to the growth of the retail network in 2017, we also had higher gross turnover by eight percent, and all our plans have been realized. We believe that the year ahead will be at least as successful as this one,” concludes the CEO of Istarski Supermarketi.
