Tonight in Sinj - A Not to Miss Performance by Quintet Kalamos at Fortress Kamičak!

By 19 August 2016

The Tourist Board of Sinj continues their traditional musical evenings at the favorite Fortress Kamičak, with wind quintet Kalamos taking the stage tonight at 20.30h.

Recently renovated, fortress Kamičak is now home to a beautiful stage that awaits wind quintet Kalamos. Their concert will be held on tonight, Friday August 19 and will begin at 20.30h.

Members of the ensemble use brass instruments with a tab (mouthpiece), including the oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. This type of ensemble has been respected by the Times newspaper, calling it "the best new music format in the world."

The members of the quintet include excellent musicians: Katarina Grubić  (oboe, English horn), Yaroslav Sadovyy (clarinet), Bernard Homan (saxophone), Rude Mimica (bass clarinet) and Matko Smolčić (bassoon).

Kalamos was founded in 2013 in Zagreb, with their premiere performances held in the small Concert Hall Lisinski, and in the foyer of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Both concerts received excellent reactions from the audience.

Their concerts that follow will be a part of the summer events in Omiš, Solin, Rovinj and the recital program of the International Festival of Chamber Music MAGfest in Split. Kalamos quintet performs regularly in Zagreb at various events. All of their performances thus far have received excellent responses from both domestic and foreign audiences.

For their Sinj performance, Kalamos will perform songs by GF Handel, Isaac Albeniz, Jean Françaix, Henry Purcell, Gordan Tudor, George Gershwin and many other composers.

What a magical treat for Sinj!
