"Cetina Adventure" Sports Club Took on the Unimaginable: The Spartan Race in the Czech Republic

By 26 August 2016

Perhaps not an Olympic story, but one certainly worth mentioning - several members from the adventure sports club "Cetina Adventure" represented Croatian colors in the Czech town of Litovel for the “Spartan Race”. The race took place on August 20th.

A race that was originally built in America, Spartan Race has quickly gained popularity on European soil. What makes this race so special is that compared to conventional races such as marathons, trekking and cycling races, this race is characterized by sudden changes in terrain and many obstacles that you are expected to overcome.

Spartan Race in Litovel was 9 kilometers in length with 25 obstacles included such as skipping two meter walls, climbing rope, swimming, javelin, trekking through muddy quagmires and many others. To pass every obstacle the participant had only one shot, and if the attempt failed, a penalty would follow.

The Spartan Race in Litovel was attended by over 6000 people. All members of Cetina Adventure successfully completed the race (and with very good times), despite the fact that this is not their primary sports discipline as they are respectively trekkers and cyclists. General impressions were excellent and all together this event was a wonderful experience. With good memories and great results, Cetina Adventure can’t wait for next year!

The members of Cetina Adventure that participated were: Petar Mandac, Boris Erceg, Ante Smodlaka, Nikola Pavić and Roberto Živaljić.
