Kenyans have won the first three places at the Dugopolje Half Marathon, mastering 21 kilometers of the Dalmatian hinterland on Saturday, September 24.
After one hour, 12 minutes and 59 seconds, the first place winner and 27-year-old Wycliffe Kipkorir Biwot came through the finish line. Biwot is a well known Kenyan athlete and has already won races in Rijeka, Plitvice, and Lošinj to name a few.
“The Dugopolje half marathon was well organized, it's hot, it's not easy to run, but it can be," said the winner after crossing the finish line.
The second place arrival was by Kenyan Moses Masai Komon, and third by Kenyan Joel Maina Mwangi. The fourth place win was by 31-year-old Tomislav Kopač from the Athletic Club Imotski.
The first Dugopolje half marathon - 21 kilometers of the Dalmatian hinterland - was organized jointly by the Tourist Board of Dugopolje and Marathon Club Marjan Split. Aside from the half marathon, a 5 kilometer race was also held.
This event was organized within the framework of the celebrations of St. Michael and the Day of Dugopolje. There were 150 participants of which 100 participated in the half-marathon, and 50 in the 5 kilometer recreation race. Runners came from everywhere including several places in Dalmatia, Zagreb, from several clubs in Herzegovina and Sarajevo, the Hungarian Benedek athletic club, and more.
