Indie Rock Heroes Interpol Confirmed for INmusic 2018

By 13 February 2018

The acclaimed band will make their Croatian debut in Zagreb

INmusic festival keeps raising waves with their lineup announcements: the acclaimed indie rock band Interpol is about to make its Croatian debut at Jarun lake in Zagreb this summer.

The New York legends are joining the impressive list of headlining acts announced for the 13th edition of INmusic, including Queens of the Stone Age, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, David Byrne, Alice in Chains, St. Vincent, Portugal. The Man, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and The Kills.

Interpol was formed in New York in 1997 by Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, Carlos Dengler and Greg Drudy, who left the band in 2000 and was replaced by drummer Sam Fogarino. The band was quick to become one of the major players on the blooming NYC scene, leading the indie revolution which changed the face of the global music scene for generations to come.

Alongside The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and a number of other rock bands from other parts of the US, Interpol has remained one of the most renowned and active post-punk and indie rock revival acts from the turn of the millennium to the present day. The band came out with their debut album Turn On The Bright Lights in 2002, taking the scene by storm and becoming an emblem of the most successful and influential American rock scene since the Seattle grunge era of the early 90s.

The creative strength and distinctive sound presented on their debut album, clearly influenced by Joy Division and the dark introverted post-punk world, was successfully explored further on their following studio albums: Antics (2005), Our Love To Admire (2007), Interpol (2010), and El Pintor (2014). After their bass player Carlos Dengler left the band in 2010 following the release of their fourth album, Interpol went on a four-year hiatus, allowing the band members to turn to side solo projects.

Last year saw a world tour marking the 15th anniversary of the release of Interpol's debut Turn On The Bright Lights, with the band announcing they're working on their sixth studio album set for release later this year.

Along with two confirmed shows in the UK, Interpol's debut at INmusic in Croatia remains one of the few live performances the band has announced for this year.

INmusic will take place from June 25 to 27, 2018. Festival tickets are available here at a price of 420 kuna (53 euro).
