The sixth edition of the largest Bavarian festival in Istria is about to start.
The end of September, or more precisely the period from the 21 to the 29 September, is traditionally reserved in Istria for the well-known Bavarian beer festival held in the Mediterranean surroundings of the Lanterna peninsula. This will be the sixth year in a row that Oktoberfest by Valamar is taking place.
A large tent decorated in the Bavarian style with traditional Bavarian music and large amounts of beer and Bavarian specialties will again welcome thousands of visitors. As always, the preparations took into consideration all the possible details: from the layout and decoration of the tent to traditional garments worn by the staff, to a special way of serving the popular Mass beer in one-litre mugs. The beer in question this year is the Puntgamer light beer and the Karlovačko dark beer.
The official opening of the festival will take place on Friday evening and will be marked – according to the tradition – with a barrel breaking. For more than a week, guests will be able to enjoy the drinks and authentic food with live music. Visitors will choose between specialties such as beef pretzels, beef soup, soup with liver dumplings, spicy pork ribs with sour cabbage, pork chops, meat cheese, various types of sausages and noodles, potato salads, apple pie, and the famous Kaiserschmarrn. The offer will also include several plates at popular prices (Oktober Dog XXL and Beer Plate), and there will also be a vegetarian option.
The Bavarian atmosphere will be created by Austrian bands and their original Oktoberfest repertoire. For the first two nights, 21 and 22 September, the stage will be ruled by the Die Lauser band, a well-known six-member group of kilt-wearing musicians. On the 23 September, the Steirersound quartet will don their recognizable traditional "lederhosen". On Monday and Tuesday, 24 and 25 September, two men and two women gathered in the Die Granaten band will provide the entertainment, while on 26 and 27 September the guests will dance accompanied by the Jungen Südsteirer party band. The end of the week and of this year's Oktoberfest in Poreč will be marked on 28 and 29 September by Mölltallica, a group of four professional musicians who always thrill the audiences.
In addition to the locals, the number of visitors from Germany, Austria and Slovenia is growing year by year, since they do not want to miss an opportunity to have a good time at the popular festival dedicated to beer, cheers and good fun by the sea.
Oktoberfest by Valamar will run until September 29, the tent will open daily at 6:30 pm and the entrance is free. As in the past years, there is a large free parking area near the tent, so all visitors can enjoy the rich offer of Oktoberfest without any worries. There is also a regular and free public transport option from the centre of Poreč, surrounding villages and camps to the tent and back.
All fans of the event, as well as all those looking for good entertainment, can book their table in the tent by calling 099/601-8055.
