Croatian Software to Help Istrian Olive Growers

By 17 November 2017

The software should help olive growers manage their production process.

Olive Manager is an IT platform developed by Croatian IT company Combis which helps start the computerisation of olive growing in Istria. The project was presented at the San Lorenzo Azrri olive oil mill in Vodnjan, where an agreement was signed between Combis, Istria County and the Istrian olive growers’ cluster, reports tportal.hr on November 17, 2017.

“Our Olive Manager software monitors all the steps in olive oil production process and simplifies the necessary controls, in order to ensure increased confidence in the Istrian extra virgin olive oil. The potential of this technological solution is remarkably large because it is also applicable to various other agricultural products, from raspberries, figs and blueberries, through cereals to cheese and honey. We are looking forward to strengthening the trust in local Croatian products with the help of IT solutions, encouraging the consumption and recognizability of high-quality Croatian brands outside Croatia as well,” said Mladen Maras, director of development and application integration at Combis.

Olive Manager is a comprehensive IT system for organising, managing and monitoring of olive processing and olive oil production. With the help of a unique code on the packaging of a product, consumers are provided with information on the location and the type of growing, and the site and the method of processing. The solution is cloud-based which enables availability from any location. A lot of effort has been invested in a user-friendly web, mobile and tablet interface, according to Combis.

“To further enhance the value of Istrian olive oil and implement the development strategy of olive growing in Istria, we need to make further steps forward. One of them is the establishment of the Olive Manager app that will enhance and enable greater production and market value of our olive oil. In this way, we create the key preconditions for the production and market organisation of the cluster, which will enable us to achieve even more successful results in the olive growing industry. This pilot project proves that Istria is following contemporary trends in agriculture, just like the most developed regions of Europe,” said Prefect of Istria County Valter Flego.
