March 2, 2018 - She is the first Master of Wine producing wine in Croatia, using the indigenous grapes of Hvar, and the international wine community is beginning to take note. More great promo for the Hvar wine story thanks to the efforts of Jo Ahearne MW.
It is always nice to see a fellow Brit and former neighbour achieve the rightful acclaim for her hard work and promotional value for the island of Hvar.
It has been quite a journey for Master of Wine Jo Ahearne since took the plunge and decided to move to Hvar in 2014 and become the first Master of Wine to make wine in Croatia. Her acclaimed first wine, the Rosina rosé, from the local Hvar Darnekusa grape, was met with critical acclaim, and her exanding range of wines has been extremely well received, with this year's Wild Skins named in the top 10 Croatian wines of the year for 2017.
And the international wine press is taking note. Jo's latest profiling and work on Hvar has just come online, an interview with Wine Enthusiast:
