Croatian Mayonnaise a Hit at US Giant Walmart

By 12 October 2018

Selected products of the Zvijezda company have been available at Walmart stores since September.

Since September, products made by Croatia’s Zvijezda company are available to US retail giant Walmart’s customers. That is the world's largest retail chain with 265 million customers a week and with more than 11,000 stores in 27 countries. Online purchase is available in 10 countries, and the chain has an annual revenue of 500.3 billion dollars, reports Večernji List on October 12, 2018.

The selected products, Zvijezda’s mayonnaise, sunflower oil, vinegar and margarine are available in both brick stores and online, and the biggest hit among US consumers is the Zvijezda mayonnaise.

“We are very proud that Zvijezda’s products have found their way to consumers in the United States who have a wide variety of choice. The biggest hit among them is the Zvijezda mayonnaise, produced from fresh eggs. We have been preparing it according to a traditional recipe for more than half a century. It is interesting for US consumers due to its taste, as well as the fact that, unlike other mayonnaises that are presented directly on the shelves, our mayonnaise is kept in a fridge,” said Krešimir Staničić, Zvijezda’s export manager.

In addition to the mayonnaise, US consumers have also reacted positively to Zvijezda’s margarine and Margo spread which, unlike American margarines, are produced without hydrogenated fats.

Zvijezda is currently present in 23 different markets in the world and has a 20 percent growth in export sales compared to the same period last year. The growth in overseas sales is in line with the stronger export orientation of the company whose business plans are focused on strengthening its domestic competitiveness and on expanding business activities in export markets. Zvijezda’s plans for the forthcoming period are to continue with a business strategy focused on the growth of foreign sales and expansion to new international markets.
