Istrian Craft Beer Revolution Has Begun

By 7 September 2015

The rise and rise of craft beer in Istria.

The Craft Beer Revolution in Istria began this weekend on the Medulin waterfront with the opening of a large luxury bottle of beer, which was symbolically opened by the organizers from the Terraneo team, Tomislav Pranjić and Srđan Polomčić, together with the mayor of Medulin Goran Buić, who welcomed "the guys who like to drink beer" and thanked them for introducing the culture of beer drinking, reports Glas Istre on September 7, 2015.

And guys who like to drink beer also know how to brew premium beer. After all, it was precisely the need they felt for a delicious drink that made them start their small businesses which are every day becoming larger and larger, since they were not satisfied with beer offered on the market, so have decided to produce beer for everyone's taste, flavoured with sage, orange, nettle...

About twenty top craft brewers from six European countries have offered their liquid delicacies – San Servolo, Zmajska Pivovara, Nova Runda, Hold'em Brewery, Varionica, Pivo Bošnjak, Visibaba Pivo, Brewery and Pub Medvedgrad, Križevačko Pivo, ABA 5th Element, Air Craft Brewery, Mali Grad Brewery, Varissh, Maister Brewery, Brew Revolt Brewery, Reketye Sorfozde Brewery, Austria Bevog Brewery and Kabinet Brewery.

At one place, beer lovers with refined palates could taste and buy top quality beer and enjoy 50 craft draft beers and as many as 200 brands of craft beers in bottles, produced with a special love and by small local craft brewers. They could also meet the brewers and take part in a workshop on the brewing process, which was unfortunately, due to the weather, somewhat delayed for later hours.

Drinking a premium beer is unthinkable without great music, so the event featured performance by Gustafi band, and an after party at the beach bar Barakuda with DJ Make and DJ XXL. However, the bear festivities did not end there. All the beer that was left could be tasted a day later at the "beer playoffs" in the Beer Club in Veruda in Pula. Or, as one participant of the festival, Hungarian brewer Reketye, said: "Life is too short to drink bad beer."
