Croatian Sport Ministry to Support This Year's Major Sporting Events With €4m

ZAGREB, 15 April (2022) - The Ministry of Tourism and Sport said on Friday it had decided to co-finance the organisation of 15 large sporting events in Croatia this year. "In addition to promotional purposes, sporting events also have a considerable economic effect, and over the years Croatia has proved to be an excellent organiser and host of major global sporting events," Minister Nikolina Brnjac said, adding that the Ministry will support large sporting events planned for this year with a total of HRK 30 million (€4m). Croatia's Inflation Picks Up to 7.3% in March, Highest Since Summer 2008

ZAGREB, 15 April (2022) - Prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer prices index, in March 2022 were on average 7.3% higher than in the same month of last year, the Croatian statistical office (DZS) said on Friday. That is the highest inflation rate since the summer of 2008. Compared to February 2022, consumer prices were 2.1% higher on average. In Q1 2022, consumer prices were on average 6.4% higher than in Q1 2021. Croatia Reports 668 New COVID-19 Cases, Five Deaths

ZAGREB, 15 April (2022) - In the last 24 hours, 668 coronavirus cases, out of 2,871 tests, and five related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Friday. There are 5,522 active cases, including 503 hospitalised patients, 24 of whom are on ventilators, while 3,372 persons are self-isolating. To date, Croatia has registered 1,112,491 coronavirus cases, the death toll is 15,720, and 59.46% of the total population, i.e. 70.73% of adults, have been vaccinated against COVID, including 68.64% of adults fully. Basket of Food Items Consumed for Easter 30% More Expensive Than Last Year

ZAGREB, 15 April (2022) - According to estimates by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), in the week leading up to Easter Croatians will spend around HRK 1.6 billion, some 15% more than in regular weeks during the year, the Večernji List daily reports in its Friday issue.
