Success Breeds Success as Dental Tourism Joins Advent in Zagreb

November 24, 2018 - The popularity and success of Advent in Zagreb is providing new opportunities in other sectors of Croatian tourism, with Bagatin Clinic the first to link it to Croatia's huge dental tourism potential.  Writing about Croatian tourism is a little like watching Real Madrid play at times. A group of world-class individuals who often cannot come together and transfer all that individual talent into something cohesive for the team. And then, on occasion, when it does happen, it is like watching poetry in motion.  Croatia has some exceptional tourism superstars, which if properly coached and encouraged, could catapult…

A Singular Trip To Croatia Offers A Few Tourism Lessons

November 22, 2018 — The Croatian tourism apparatus will now endure its annual post-summer evaluation. Statistics must be dissected: How many arrivals? How much was spent? The service industry exchanges anecdotes en masse: Which nation sent the most visitors? Who were the biggest spenders? Reviews and ratings on travel sites such as TripAdvisor and Booking.com are combed for helpful feedback — or dismissed as pointless ramblings. Yet rarely does one get an intimate look into the experience of a Croatian tourist from beginning to end. Until now. Refinery29’s Away Game, a series which chronicles millennial women’s travels and expenses, chronicled a…

Meet the Relais Chateaux Hotels of Croatia: Lesic Dimitri Palace, Korcula

November 22, 2018 - Where are the best places to stay in Croatia? A tour of the luxury listings recommended by Relais & Chateaux, starting with Lesic Dimitri Palace on Korcula. Croatian tourism is evolving, and one of the areas where great progress has been made over the last few years is the luxury sector. Mass tourism in the 1960s in former Yugoslavia gave way to an explosion of construction of concrete eyesores to meet the mass need, and many of these hotels still exist today on a 2 or 3-star level. But finding top-quality, luxury accommodation for high-spending guests…

The Vukovar They Rarely Mention: A Gorgeous Danube City

November 21, 2018 - The name of Vukovar will forever be associated with the brutal events of 1991, events remembered by all Croats on November 18 each year. There is another Vukovar which gets a lot less attention - the gorgeous town on the Danube which has risen from tragedy.  One of the most emotive days in the Croatian calendar is November 18, the day of the fall of Vukovar in 1991 after one of the most brutal sieges in history. The heroic defenders of the city held out for 87 days against vastly superior forces, and there were many…
