Women in Zagreb Join Protests against US President Trump

By 22 January 2017

Unlike in other cities, the protest in Zagreb was not particularly impressive.

Protests against new US president Donald Trump were held on Saturday in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and in many other countries. A small protest was organized in Zagreb as well. The “United against Hatred” initiative organized a solidarity action in the centre on Zagreb which symbolically started at 5 minutes to noon.

“We express our solidarity with women's marches in Washington, throughout the United States and the world, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new US president Donald Trump – a man whose words and actions indicate a hatred towards women, minorities and immigrants, not just in the United States, but also around the world”, said the group in a statement.

“Policies which promote hatred and violate human rights are not present just in the United States. Conservative movements threaten the rights of women in the world, Europe and Croatia every day, especially their labour, sexual and reproductive rights. Let us say NO to the global wave of misogyny, xenophobia and discrimination against everybody who is other and different! Let us promote human rights and freedoms around the world, let us demand from the new US administration that it respects and protects these rights, regardless of anyone’s personal beliefs! United against hatred!”, concluded the group in the statement.

Here is the video of the protest.
