British Journalists Explore the Cuisine of the Cetina Region

Even more great promotion for Inland Dalmatia!

On June 2, 2017, renowned British journalists Rosemary Barron and Sarah Coghill visited Sinj and Trilj to collect material for a report for Food and Travel TBC which boasts 30,000 readers in the UK, reports Ferata.hr on June 3, 2017.

Their arrival was made possible by the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and the Tourist Boards of Sinj and Trilj. The purpose of their visit was to meet with small local food producers and OPG’s (family farms) who are located in the hinterland of Split, and those who grow and produce organic bioproducts which are successfully marketed.

To precisely share the tourism potential of the Cetina region, the British journalists visited the Grab mills in Trilj where flour is produced in an indigenous way. Afterward, they met with the veterans association Završće where they tasted excellent home made bread. They then embarked on a tour of Sinj where despite the summer rain, they visited the fortress in the city and familiarized themselves with the historical and cultural heritage.

They then continued to OPG Poljak where they met with cow breeders and cheese producers in small dairy. They were directed through the cheese production facility by Andriana and Mate Poljak. This OPG has worked successfully for many years and has not found it difficult to place their domestic products on the market.

After OPG Poljak, the journalists visited vegetable growers Frano and Dušan Jagnić. On their family farm, you can find vegetables and grains including zucchini, cabbage, onions, red onions, sweet corn, and wheat - all on ten hectares of land in the Sinj valley. They also stressed that they have no problems with placing their products on the market.

For the end of their trip, the journalists visited the restaurant ‘Kod Frane’ in Ovrlja where hostess Diana Sušić-Jurić met them with traditional cuisine and recipes of the most famous dishes in the region.

Both Barron and Coghill were delighted and surprised by the potential of the Cetina region, which is located only 30 minutes away from the coast and Split.
