Inland Dalmatia Finalist for Croatia's Most Successful Destination for Rural Tourism

The Croatian National Tourist Board selects the best destinations of the year.

After being selected as one of five candidates in the category of 'Most Successful Destinations for Rural Tourism' in Gospić on September 12, 2017, in front of a 28-member expert commission, the Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian Tourist Board, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Faculty of Economics and Business in Zagreb, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, the University of Juraj Dobrila in Pula, the University of Dubrovnik and four marketing agencies, welcomed a presentation of Inland Dalmatia as a destination, consisting of Sinj, Imotski, Trilj, Vrlika, Vrgorac and Dugopolje, reports Ferata.hr on September 29, 2017. 

The presentation of the destination was successfully introduced by Tomislav Balić, Director of the Tourist Board of the Dugopolje Municipality and Monika Vrgoč, Director of the Tourist Board of Sinj, accompanied by Diana Maras, Director of the Vrlika Tourist Board.

After becoming a finalist for the most successful destination for rural tourism, the assessment of the destination in the field followed. On the 28th of September, the commission for the evaluation of the destination arrived by Ana Vugrin, representative of the Croatian Tourist Board, Ivan Vargaš, representative of the Ministry of Tourism, Vesna Latinović from Glas Slavonija and Dijana Katica from the Croatian Association for Tourism and Rural Development. 

The members of the Commission visited the destination accompanied by directors of the local tourist boards. In a very demanding and time-limited tour, they visited the Red and Blue Lake in Imotski, the eco-ethno village Kokorići in Vrgorac, the Vranjača Cave in Dugopolje, the Grab mill in Trilj, Sinj Alka Museum, the Shrine of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj and the Franciscan Monastery in Sinj. 

The Croatian Tourist Board will select the most desirable destinations of Croatia in several categories this year, including the most successful destination for summer holiday tourism, the most successful city-break destination, the most successful destination of health tourism, the most authentic coastal destination 'malo misto', the most successful destination for rural tourism and the most successful destination in continental Croatia.

The announcement of the winner for the most successful destination of rural tourism for 2017 will be organized as part of the Croatian Tourism Day in Mali Lošinj on October 25 and 26, 2017.
