Art Made from Earth: Sinj Tourist Board Presents "Traditional Pottery from Potravlje"

By 24 October 2017

The Sinj Tourist Board, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, has organized an educational workshop under the theme "Traditional Pottery from Potravlje”.

The traditional pottery from Potravlje has had the status of immaterial cultural heritage since 2013 and was nominated by the Ministry of Culture of Croatia for UNESCO protection.

Today, the art of making this traditional pottery is preserved only in two families - Jure Knezović, where today the pots are made by sons Ivan and Pile, and Jurina's brother Dusan Knezović in the village of Potravlje in the Hrvace municipality.

It is of utmost importance to preserve this segment of traditional culture and to ensure the craft continues over time by passing down the skills to the younger generations.
