The Animal Protection Association has stated that the first two blocks should have been opened in April last year, but everything was just done on a promise.

The residents of Slavonski Brod take their pollution protest directly to the capital.

ZAGREB, April 14, 2018 - Around 200 residents of the eastern town of Slavonski Brod staged a protest outside the government offices in Zagreb on Saturday, demanding the right to clean air and water and a life in dignity in their town.

ZAGREB, April 13, 2018 - The Crodux oil company, at a press conference in Zagreb on Friday, dismissed responsibility for water pollution in the eastern town of Slavonski Brod, saying it was not possible that the petrol spill could have reached water wells and water pipes 48 hours after a leak in the oil pipeline.

April 11, 2018 - Already plagued by terrible air pollution from the oil refinery across the border, residents of Slavonski Brod recently had their drinking water supplies cut off following a contamination incident which has yet to be fully explained. ZAGREB, April 9, 2018 - The Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), which collects and analyses data on drinking water safety in the whole country, on Monday informed the public that drinking water in the public supply system in Slavonski Brod was again safe for human consumption in that eastern town.

ZAGREB, April 8, 2018 - Several hundred residents of the eastern city of Slavonski Brod on Saturday rallied for a peaceful protest to warn once again of the problem of air pollution in the town as well as a recent water pollution incident, saying that their fight was one for a life in dignity and that they would stage a protest in Zagreb on April 14.

ZAGREB, April 5, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Thursday that the government had reacted promptly to the environmental disaster in Slavonski Brod and that an investigation would show how the water in area had been polluted by hydrocarbons. "We regret this incident. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the pollution, namely the cause of the oil leakage from the pipeline which the Crodux company was testing," the prime minister said.

ZAGREB, April 4, 2018 - Environmental Protection and Energy Minister Tomislav Ćorić said on Tuesday that the latest results of the analysis of water from the eastern town of Slavonski Brod gave reason for optimism, but noted that the ban on using the water for drinking and cooking remained in force.

ZAGREB, April 3, 2018 - The mayor of the eastern town of Slavonski Brod, Mirko Duspara, and the local water utility Vodovod d.o.o. have filed criminal complaints with the county prosecutor's office against unidentified perpetrators over environmental pollution and endangering of life and property by dangerous public acts or means, County Prosecutor Mirela Smital said on Tuesday, noting that police had been instructed to investigate the incident that occurred on March 28.
