Parallel with the attractive Tour of Croatia, Poreč is also hosting the cycling camp SPORTaktiv, held for the third time on the seaside, in mild Mediterranean climate. From April 20 to 23. The camp is organised by Valamar Riviera together with SPORTaktiv magazine in the Valamar Crystal hotel in Poreč, offering to participants entertainments and learning during all four days. Along with plenty of expert advice on cycling, participants will also take part in three guided cycling tours of 80 and 120 kilometres with moderate height differences. Together with Istriabike, Valamar offers an unforgettable week of training and fun for all who desire to ride on two wheels. Besides meeting and training on the wonderful cycling routes of Istria, Barbara will divulge the secrets of top athletes and offer additional training for triathlon athletes, or those who want to become one: running trainings and swimming in a heated pool.

Few days later, cycling enthusiasts relocate on the other side of the Istrian peninsula, to Rabac, where the Croatian Cycling Forum will take place on April 28, the first cycling forum with the topic of “Cycling in Croatia.” The main goal of the forum is to present Croatia as a destination of cycling tourism with all its aspects, with travel writers, trekking, mountain or e-cycling journalists, and many bloggers from the German speaking world.

Due to the climate , position, terrain configuration and excellent infrastructure invested heavily in lately, Istria can truly be called the centre point of outdoor and active tourism, recognised as such by sport professionals and recreationalists from around the world. Valamar Riviera has been strategically developing its destinations using its resources and their full potential to offer guests what they want and is recognised as a leader in the development of sport offers, including cyclotourism. “One of such locations is Rabac, with great potential to become a sports tourism destination of this part of Istria, especially after the coming opening of Valamar Girandella Resort, whose new content and offer will certainly attract athletes and recreationalists, including the cycling centre Bike Centre Rabac, the first of its kind in Croatia,” Valamar has stated.

“If there are no cycling routes, battery charging stations for e-bikes, cycling service and sales centres, public transportation adapted to cyclists, road assistance for cyclists, washroom for sports clothes and similar, it will be hard to reach the position of Germany which makes an annual income from cycling in the amount of 10 billion euro,” said Nedo Pinezić, President of the Family Tourism Community with the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
