The Hvar party will start a little earlier this year, as nightclub Seven has announced it will be opening its doors for the season on April 28, 2018.
May 10 was always one of my favourite times to visit Hvar Town. The Feast of St Prosper, a patron saint of the town. There are various events, locals have stands on the square selling their produce, and in the evening, there is a delightful gourmet event, where many of the town's restaurants competed against each other in a cooking presentation which was open to the public. A really nice day, usually accompanied by wonderful Hvar sunshine and no crowds as this was very much the shoulder season. It was also known in some quarters as the unofficial start of the tourist season in Hvar Town.
Hvar's season is getting longer, it seems. The Total Hvar inbox gets regular requests for info about when the town's nightclubs open for the season, and many have been disappointed to learn that there was not much action before June. No longer, it seems.
Nightclub Seven, which describes itself as the 'best place in town' and was a popular waterfront restaurant just three years ago, has announced something called a Great Opening on April 28. I assume they mean Grand Opening, but I am sure it will be great, if the accompanying promo video is anything to go by - see below.
The Great Opening will take place 17 days before Hvar celebrates its 150th birthday as the home of the oldest organised tourism in Europe, following the founding of the Hvar Health Society in 1868. I wonder what those convalescing Viennese aristocrat chaps all those years ago would make of it all.
