May 20, 2018 - Rovinj will host an exceptional music festival next week
Visiting the Istrian city of Rovinj is an immensely rewarding experience on its own: strolling through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, soaking in the breathtaking vistas. Have a glass of wine on a terrace with a splendid view of the sea, or perhaps indulge in a dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Pure hedonism - but it can only get better if you throw a memorable event in the mix.
Istra's tourism champion will soon host the 10th Rovinj Spring Jazz, a renowned cultural manifestation that regularly features the best jazz musicians in Croatia and beyond. This year's edition will take place from May 22 to May 25 at the music hall of the Multimedia Centre (MMC), and if it just so happens the road is taking you to Rovinj next week, you're honestly advised to stop by the MMC and enjoy some good music. You're spoilt for choice: Kristian Terzić Band, Tamara Obravac Quarter, Vedran Ružić, Elvis Stanić Group and JazzIstra Orchestra & Lela Kaplowitz - whoever you decide to go with, consider it a good pick.
This year's Rovinj Spring Jazz will also involve a photography exhibition, a multimedia retrospective of the manifestation from its early stages to this day, informal jazz-themed educational programmes, a little jazz corner, and promotional activities that will get the guests acquainted with Croatian jazz musicians.
In the last ten years, Rovinj Spring Jazz has presented us with renowned jazz performers, including Steve Turre, Eric Alexander, Jim Rotondi and Michele Hendricks. Apart from presenting the international jazz scene, the festival also aims to put Croatian jazz musicians in the spotlight, both the acclaimed masters and those who are only starting their career.
The manifestation is organised by the MMC and Dubravka Svetličić. Tickets are available at a price of 50 kuna, and visitors under 18 years of age have the opportunity to enjoy great jazz for free. Here are the highlights:
