The road to Samoleč was preserved for a length of approximately 500 m, while its width is mostly 4 to 6 m. There are visible remains of cobblestones with corresponding curbs and retaining walls on some parts, as well as ruts - evidence of the intense vehicle-traffic on this road during antique.

This ancient main road at Samoleč is the second implementation of the archaeological tourism project "Roman Roads of Central Dalmatia" by the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board in cooperation with Trilj City and the Trilj Museum.

Director of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board Joško Stella said, that this is the second Roman road opened in our county, after the first one from Klis to Dugopolje.

"It is part of the transversal, which goes from Salone (Solin) all the way to Tilurium. It branches into several places. One of the most important things here is, that this second Roman road at Samoleč stretches out to the military camp Tilurij and at the same time, we have forts, a Museum, we have it all. So this way, we can make one logical and very interesting trip from Split via Salona, Klis to Trilj, related to Roman history and Roman roads. This is what we wanted, to connect and make a specific tourism product. I think we have succeeded and now travel agencies have to do their part."

Joško Stella stressed out, that the project of Roman roads in the Split-Dalmatia County (all 800 km of them) goes even further.

"We want to present the most prominent places to the public, to create a story based on true events, on history. I think, that our history is so rich and deserves to be re-told and that people live use it to create living with the help of tourism", said Stella.
