One Istrian town is setting a shining example for the rest of the country.

Unemployment, a general lack of jobs and an unfavourable overall economic climate are all drums that we love to beat, and while those facts aren't untrue, there are shining beacons of hope dotted away even in the places you might not expect them to be found at first.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 12th of March, 2018, in the city in question, there is a sense of satisfaction with such positive economic indicators and this is considered to be a confirmation of the effectiveness of a series of measures and programs that have been implemented in order to create a safe, positive investment climate and much more favourable conditions for the work of economic entities, not to mention a rise in employment and more ease when it comes to job seeking.

Analysed data published by gradonacelnik.hr shows that the largest increase in the number of insured persons, followed by the employment figures was at 19.83 percent. This promising figure was recorded in the Istrian town of Vodnjan over the last year. Back in December 2016 in Vodnjan, there were 1,039 registered insured persons on employment-related grounds and last year was completed with 1,245 such insured persons.

Additionally, Vodnjan is in the top ten cities with the highest long-term employment growth, so in the period from 2013 to 2017, overall employment has grown by as much as 30.78 percent, a figure that is extremely encouraging for all and should be taken as an example to the rest of the country, especially those trying their hand at benefiting from the various rural and regional development programs which are now available to less developed areas, mainly located in eastern and continental Croatia, which suffering from a somewhat bleak economic outlook.

As previously mentioned, all those in the City of Vodnjan are very much satisfied with these more than positive indicators and consider this to be a confirmation of the effectiveness of a series of proactive measures and programs which have been carried out with the aim of creating a positive investment climate and more favourable conditions for the work of business entities or creating new jobs.

The abolition of certain burdensome contributions for new businesses, interest subsidies for new employment and self-employment, grants to finance the preparation and running of various European Union projects, co-financing investment in quality standards, the co-financing of the costs of professional exams, helpful grants for newly established companies, the co-financing of expenditure for different agricultural programs, subsidising women in entrepreneurship, incentives for young families that have the intention of choosing Vodnjan as their place of residence, or incentives to encourage the active settling of youth in the city and at the same time improve the overall prospects and quality of life of young people through the creation of infrastructure conditions and new jobs are just some of the measures which have seen Vodnjan propelled to new economic heights.
