June 1, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as two new Wizz Air flights to Croatia from Vienna will land in Dubrovnik and Split! 

Avio Radar reports that Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced new routes from Vienna to Dubrovnik and Split! 

Namely, the Vienna-Dubrovnik line will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, from July 4 to September 26, while the Vienna-Split line will also operate twice a week, but on Mondays and Fridays, from July 2 to September 24.

This is only the latest from Wizz Air, which has announced a series of flights to Croatia this summer. 

Last month, the airline announced its return to Dubrovnik after several years with a connection from Rome (Fiumicino Airport) three times a week, from July 1 to October 30, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Tickets were also released on the Warsaw and Dubrovnik line just over a week ago, which will operate from July 3 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, until September 19. 

Wizz Air has significantly increased its operations to Split this year.

The low-cost airline will run between Rome and Split from July 2 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, until October 29. 

From June 13, WizzAir will operate between Lublin and Split, on Thursdays and Sundays, until mid-September. From June 11, it will run between Poznan and Split every Monday and Friday, also until the end of September.

Wizz Air also has lineds from Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Krakow this summer. While the airline had announced a line between Split and Oslo this year as well, the airline has decided to completely withdraw from the Norweigan airport. 

To put things into perspective, Wizz Air connected Split with only four international destinations in the summer of 2020!

May 26, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as flights from Scandinavia to Croatia return this summer thanks to SAS, Norwegian, TUI, and Nova Airways. 

Croatian Aviation reports that SAS, Norwegian, TUI, and Nova Airways are announcing the start of operations on their seasonal routes from Scandinavia to Croatian airports.

After several months, Scandinavian airlines are resuming traffic on their seasonal international routes to Croatian airports. Pula, Split, and Dubrovnik will again have direct connections with several cities. A look at the flight schedule for June.

Lines to Split begin first

The first flights this season have been announced to Split Airport. From June 5, Norwegian will operate once a week on the Stockholm - Split - Stockholm route, and from the end of June, daily flights have been announced.

In addition to Stockholm, Norwegian plans to introduce the Copenhagen - Split - Copenhagen route (daily) from the end of June, and flights on the Oslo - Split - Oslo route have been announced from June 17, three times a week, every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines will resume operations on the Stockholm - Split - Stockholm route from June 5, and as of June 16, two flights a week have been announced on this route, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

As of Wednesday, June 9, SAS introduces the Copenhagen - Split - Copenhagen line, which will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. At the beginning of July, the company will introduce a regular line between Oslo and Split.

In addition to the two mentioned carriers, from Friday, June 4, TUI will operate once a week from Stockholm to Split. Nova Airways will also operate on the regular charter line Gothenburg - Split - Stockholm from the beginning of June.

At the end of June, the return of SAS to Pula

From the end of June, SAS Scandinavian Airlines routes to Pula Airport have also been announced. These are three international lines, from Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm.

The line from Copenhagen to Pula is announced twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays, the line from Oslo once a week, on Mondays, and the line from Stockholm twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The lines will be in operation from the last week of June, and an increase in the number of weekly operations is expected from July.

Norwegian is currently not selling tickets to Pula Airport for this summer season.

Lines to Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik has SAS and Norwegian flights in the announcement; both mentioned airlines should resume traffic to Dubrovnik in the last week of June.

SAS is currently planning two lines to Dubrovnik from Copenhagen and Stockholm. The line from Copenhagen is announced once a week from June 28, on Mondays, while the line from Stockholm is also announced once a week, on Sundays, from June 27. The carrier also plans to increase the number of operations towards Dubrovnik in early July. 

Norwegian currently offers only one line to Dubrovnik Airport. It is a line Stockholm - Dubrovnik - Stockholm, which should have its first flight this season on June 28. Three flights a week have been announced, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and from July on Saturdays.

Four lines from Zagreb

According to current announcements, Zagreb will have four direct lines to Scandinavia this summer.

At the beginning of June, Croatia Airlines will increase the number of operations on its regular route Zagreb - Copenhagen - Zagreb with a morning departure from Zagreb Airport, and in June, flights on this route will be available daily.

From July 23, Ryanair will introduce the Zagreb - Gothenburg - Zagreb route (three flights a week), while from September, regular flights from Zagreb to Oslo Torp and Malmo have been announced (both routes two flights a week).

In previous years, Norwegian operated on the line between Copenhagen and Zagreb, but this line is not on sale on the airline's official website this year either.

Flights from Zadar to Stockholm

Since the end of June, Zadar Airport has announced a regular direct Ryanair flight between Gothenburg and Zadar; two flights a week have been announced, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and in July, there will be as many as four flights a week on this route.

In addition to Gothenburg, Zadar will be connected to Stockholm and Aarhus in July.

Rijeka, Osijek, and Brac, the three remaining airports open to international traffic, currently have no scheduled flights from Scandinavia for this summer season.

May 26, 2021 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Russian S7 flights to Split and Zadar will operate from Moscow at the end of June! These will be the second and third routes to Croatia this year after Pula Airport. 

Croatian Aviation reports that the Russian airline, S7 Airlines, will introduce two more scheduled flights to Croatia in June. Namely, the Moscow-based airline will introduce two more scheduled flights to Croatia in the second half of June.

The airline traditionally operates on a regular seasonal line between Pula and Moscow, and this year, it will also operate to Zadar and Split!

Regular flights to Pula operate once a week, on Sundays, and the airline currently plans to maintain one rotation throughout the summer season.

The positive news is that S7 Airlines will introduce two more new routes to Croatia from the end of June.

The Moscow - Split - Moscow (Domodedovo Airport) line will be in operation from June 25, once a week, every Friday. Fifteen rotations with the B737-800 aircraft, with a capacity of 176 passengers, have been announced. The S7 will offer a total of 5,280 seats with one flight per week until the end of September (September 24, 2021) between Moscow and Split.

From June 26, S7 will operate on the Moscow - Zadar - Moscow line (also from Domodedovo Airport). This line was also announced once a week, on Saturdays, until September 25, so the same number of operations was announced as for Split.

On two new lines to Croatia, S7 will offer an additional 10,560 seats. This is the only announced line this season between Moscow and Zadar, while the Russian national airline - Aeroflot - will operate daily to Split. As it stands now, Aeroflot will fly to Split from June 1.

May 25, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Iberia flights to Split and Zagreb return next month, while the Dubrovnik line will increase to four flights a week! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Spanish national airline, Iberia, will resume traffic to two Croatian airports - Zagreb and Split - from the beginning of June.

Iberia is running again to Zagreb and Split from the beginning of June! Since March, the Spanish national airline has been operating on a regular route between Madrid and Dubrovnik and will reintroduce routes to Split and Zagreb next month. 

Return to Zagreb

These lines were not in operation in the summer of 2020, and the airline only had reduced traffic to Dubrovnik Airport. Still, in the summer of 2021, Iberia will operate to the Croatian capital, Split, and later to Zadar, which will restore traffic on all lines Iberia had in the summer season of 2019, before the pandemic.

The Madrid - Zagreb - Madrid line was announced on Friday, June 4. Initially, Iberia aircraft will operate on this route three times a week, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Three flights a week have been announced throughout June, and A320 aircraft will operate on the route.

Iberia will offer a total of 4,104 seats between Zagreb and Madrid in June.

Madrid - Split - Madrid from June 1

In addition to Zagreb, Iberia will return to Split Airport as of June 1. In the first half of the month, two flights a week are announced, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and from mid-June, flights on Saturdays and Sundays are added.

As early as the end of June, Iberia will operate between Madrid and Split five times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Currently, 16 rotations have been announced on this line in June, with 5,472 seats available for sale between the two mentioned cities.

More flights to Dubrovnik

As we mentioned earlier, Dubrovnik is the only Croatian airport to which Iberia operated in the summer of 2020 and is also the company's first destination in Croatia this summer season.

So far, two flights a week have been available on this route, and as many as four have been announced since the beginning of June (from Friday to Monday).

From Friday, June 18, Iberia plans to operate daily between Dubrovnik and Madrid, with A320 aircraft, so that the Spanish company will offer the largest number of seats to Dubrovnik. There are currently as many as 7,182 seats on sale.

Zadar from July!

Regular flights on the route between Madrid and Zadar are currently postponed to the beginning of July (from July 3). Two flights a week have been announced on this route, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but given that the start date of operations is still quite far, there is no need to hurry with booking because the airline could continue to cancel flights on this route.

In June, Iberia will have three lines to Croatia with a total of 15 weekly operations. Between Madrid, Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik, there are as many as 16,755 seats on offer.

May 19, 2021 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Zagreb and Split KLM flights have been boosted! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Dutch KLM currently operates twice a day between Zagreb and Amsterdam, and instead of Embraer aircraft, larger capacity aircraft operates on the route. Flights to Split have been running daily since yesterday!

Since the end of March, Dutch KLM has been gradually increasing the number of weekly flights between Zagreb and Amsterdam, adding a second daily flight on certain days of the week. The company now operates twice a day between the mentioned airports, and so far the Embraer E170 and E190 aircraft have mainly operated on this route.

The capacity of the mentioned aircraft is 76 or 100 passengers. Since the beginning of May, KLM has started using larger capacity aircraft on certain days of the week, mainly B737-700 type aircraft that can carry up to 142 passengers. Aircraft type B737-700 are announced for both daily flights to Zagreb until June 14, and again from June 21 to July 4.

From the beginning of July to the end of August, KLM plans to use B737-800 aircraft with a capacity of as many as 186 passengers on the line between Zagreb and Amsterdam. During the peak of the summer season, the -700 version was announced only on Sundays, on one daily flight.

KLM thus significantly increases the number of offered seats to and from Zagreb, counting on higher demand in the summer months. From June 1 to August 31, the Dutch airline will offer more than 56,800 seats on this route!

Increasing the number of operations towards Split

As of May 17, KLM increased the number of operations to Split Airport and now flights to and from Amsterdam are available daily.

One Croatian Aviation reader on yesterday's Amsterdam - Split flight confirmed that the B737-700 aircraft was almost full, so it is not surprising that the company decided to increase the number of operations to Split Airport earlier than in the summer season of 2019. As announced earlier, KLM will run 12 times a week between Split and Amsterdam this summer!

In addition to Split and Zagreb, this summer KLM will also run to Dubrovnik, from June 26, every day. Thus, the Dutch national airline, the oldest airline in the world, will have as many as 33 flights a week to three Croatian airports in the peak season this summer, which is a significant increase in the number of operations compared to the year before the global pandemic. Air France, also part of the same group, is present in three Croatian airports - Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik.

Although the E170 and E190 are very well received by passengers, the B737 has a significantly higher capacity, and the company will soon be able to use the Internet on flights within Europe (free for social networks), so this additional service will be available on flights to Split and Zagreb. Considering that good bookings are expected on the new route to Dubrovnik, there is no doubt that the company will use aircraft from the B737 family on this route as well.

Apart from those traveling between the mentioned cities, it should be noted that the share of transfer passengers on KLM lines is extremely high, and within Europe, this applies mainly to destinations such as Dublin, London, Manchester, and Oslo.

KLM has significantly increased its presence in the Croatian market in the last two years, and it is to be expected that this will continue in the future. A completely logical choice of the company would be the establishment of regular lines from Amsterdam to Pula and Zadar.

May 14, 2021 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Wizz Air flights to Dubrovnik return with the announcement of a Rome summer service, while a new Split-Rome route will operate, too.

Croatian Aviation reports that the well-known Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will increase the number of aircraft based at Rome's Fiumicino Airport in July and announced two new routes to Croatia. After a long break, Wizz Air is returning to Dubrovnik Airport!

The airline announced on its official website that A321NEO aircraft would be based at Fiumicino Airport. Several routes will be opened to European destinations, including two airports in Croatia - Split and Dubrovnik.

After a long break, Wizz Air returns to Dubrovnik Airport. The line will be in traffic three times a week, from July 1 to October 30, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

With as many as 53 planned rotations, Wizz Air will offer more than 25,000 seats between Dubrovnik and Rome!

From July 2, Wizz Air will introduce the Rome - Split Airport - Rome route, which will also operate three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, until October 29. On 52 return flights, the airline will offer as many as 24,856 seats between Split and Rome this summer! This is the seventh new Wizz Air line this summer season to Split Airport.

In addition to Wizz Air, two other airlines operate in the summer flight schedule on the routes from Rome to Dubrovnik and Split: Croatia Airlines and the Spanish airline Vueling.

From July, passengers can choose between three airlines to travel to the Italian capital from Split and Dubrovnik airports, on one of the newest aircraft in the fleet of this well-known European low-cost airline.

May 10, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Air Serbia flights to Split and Dubrovnik have been announced for the summer, starting May 28! 

Croatian Aviation reports that the Serbian national airline will launch routes to two destinations in Croatia - Split and Dubrovnik from the end of May.

Namely, Air Serbia, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, will resume its seasonal routes to two destinations in Croatia - Dubrovnik and Split, after the winter break (slightly longer due to the impact of the global pandemic).

As we announced earlier, Air Serbia will not operate on the other three seasonal routes in Croatia this year, to Pula, Rijeka, and Zadar, solely due to reduced demand caused by the global pandemic.

The Belgrade - Dubrovnik Airport - Belgrade line will be in operation from Friday, May 28. Two flights a week have been announced, every Monday and Friday afternoon.

The Belgrade - Split Airport - Belgrade line will also operate from June 28, on the same days as the line to Dubrovnik.

ATR75 and A319 aircraft have been announced on both routes, depending on travel dates and the demand for individual flights. The company currently plans to increase the number of weekly operations on both lines as early as June by introducing a third weekly flight. In the peak summer season, the number of operations should be significantly higher.

Along with Split and Dubrovnik, Air Serbia operates on a year-round route between Belgrade and Zagreb. In June, the company will have five flights a week on this route, every Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Ex Yu Aviation reported that Air Serbia recorded its busiest since the pandemic on April 30 (Good Friday for Orthodox Christians), when they carried 5,324 passengers (4,758 on scheduled flights and the remaining 566 on charters).

“This would be an excellent result even before the pandemic”, the airline said.

May 7, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Iberia flights from Madrid to Zagreb, Split, and Zadar have been announced for the summer. 

Croatian Aviation reports that in the summer of 2020, the Spanish national airline operated to only one destination in Croatia instead of the usual four - Dubrovnik Airport. This summer season, the company intends to operate at all four airports in Croatia, the same as in the summer of 2019.

Namely, Iberia will run regular lines from Madrid to Zagreb, Split, and Zadar. The line to Dubrovnik is already in traffic.

Line to Zagreb

The regular Madrid - Zagreb - Madrid flight has been announced since the beginning of the summer flight schedule (end of March), but flights are continuously canceled due to the epidemiological situation. Iberia currently plans to establish traffic between the two capitals from Friday, June 4.

As of that date, the company currently offers three flights a week between Zagreb Airport and Madrid, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with A320 aircraft.

The company intends to increase the number of rotations to Zagreb in July by introducing the fourth flight of the week, every Tuesday. The schedule for July and especially August is still subject to change. The company will certainly analyze the state of booking and the demand on individual flights as we approach the peak of the summer season.

This is a significantly smaller number of flights of this carrier to Zagreb compared to the summer of 2019 when Iberia operated on this route twice a day. Still, given the overall situation, it is certainly positive news that they plan to return this summer to Zagreb airport.

Line to Split Airport

From June 1, Iberia plans to renew the Madrid - Split - Madrid line. Three flights a week have been announced on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from the mentioned date.

In the second week of June, a flight is added on Wednesdays, and as of June 21, 6 flights a week have been announced, every day except Thursday. The flight schedule for July differs from the schedule for June, but the company will likely make more operational changes on this route by July.

Line to Zadar Airport

Iberia plans to re-establish the Madrid - Zadar - Madrid route from June 29. This route should be in operation until the end of the summer season twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, operated by A320 aircraft.

Line to Dubrovnik Airport

Flights between Madrid and Dubrovnik have been operating regularly since the beginning of the summer flight schedule. The company has recently increased the number of operations on this route, so flights are available on Fridays and Sundays throughout June.

May 6, 2021 - The 30th anniversary of Croatia Airlines first passenger flight was celebrated at Split Airport on Wednesday. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Wednesday marked the 30th anniversary of Croatia Airlines first passenger flight. The first commercial flight under the designation of the Croatian national airline was performed on May 5, 1991, on the route Zagreb - Split and established regular air traffic within Croatia and the dream of a Croatian airline.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the first flight, all passengers on yesterday's afternoon Croatia Airlines OU652 Zagreb - Split flight were awarded a free domestic return ticket of their choice.

After the Dash 8-Q400 aircraft (registration number 9A-CQB) landed at Split Airport, a ceremony was held at which Slaven Žabo, Director of Commercial Affairs of Croatia Airlines, thanked all passengers for the trust over the past thirty years and pointed out how service quality and flight safety will continue to be priorities in the company's business.

At the place where the first passengers of the company arrived three decades ago, the importance of the Croatian national carrier in terms of traffic and economy was emphasized:

"Croatia Airlines has been providing continuous domestic connections of Croatian cities and regions with regular domestic flights for 30 years, and at the same time, we provide passengers with a year-round connection to the world through a network of international flights. Even in these extraordinary circumstances, the company never stopped flying, which further confirmed that it represents a strategic part of the Croatian transport infrastructure and that it strongly contributes to the quality of the Croatian tourist product," said Slaven Žabo.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the first commercial flight, Croatia Airlines is conducting a special campaign from May 6 to Wednesday, May 12, in which passengers will be offered a 30 percent discount for flights to all domestic and international destinations of the company. The 30 percent discount can be realized when buying tickets and applies to trips in June, while the return can be realized by the end of this year. The condition for obtaining a 30 percent discount is entering a special promo code during the booking and purchase of airline tickets, which will be available today. The discount applies to the fare, while airport taxes and other fees remain the same.

The company said in a statement: "It is important to emphasize that Croatia Airlines plans to further expand its network of flights from Zagreb and Adriatic destinations to European capitals during the summer months, following which passengers would be offered trips to 18 European and 7 Croatian destinations.

From Zagreb, regular international flights are planned to 14 European destinations - Amsterdam, Athens, Vienna, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London, Munich, Paris, Rome (via Split), Sarajevo, Skopje, and Zurich.

Split Airport should be connected to a total of 12 foreign destinations during the summer season. A novelty is a seasonal flight between Split - Prague, on Saturdays, from the end of June to the middle of September. Return airline tickets on this route are available at a promotional price of 139 euros. In addition to Prague, Croatia Airlines aircraft should connect Split with Vienna, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London, Lyon, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich.

Also, direct flights from Dubrovnik to Athens, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich and from Rijeka to Munich are planned.

To ensure connectivity and strongly support the tourism product of the Republic of Croatia, Croatia Airlines plans to offer more than 80,000 seats per month on flights from European destinations to Croatia during the summer season. In cooperation with many tour operators, more than 200 charter (extraordinary) flights are planned. Austria, Italy, Ireland, Israel, and Scandinavia.

May 5, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia announced flights from Split Airport to 24 destinations over the next 20 days! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Split Airport has published a list of flights confirmed by airlines until May 24 this year. According to the announcements, in the next 20 days, Split will have regular flights to as many as 25 destinations.

Split Airport records an increasing number of re-established routes from weekend to weekend, and until May 24 this year, Split will have regular lines to as many as 25 destinations - 5 domestic and 20 international, which, given the epidemiological situation, passenger restrictions, and low demand, is really great news.

Croatia Airlines will have the largest number of destinations from Split, of which two are domestic and four international. Namely, until that date, Croatia Airlines will operate from Split to Zagreb, Osijek, Frankfurt, Rome, Munich, and Zurich. All routes are already in operation, except the Split - Zurich - Split line, where Croatia Airlines will make its first flight this season on Saturday, May 22.

The second airline in terms of the number of routes in the mentioned period is German Eurowings. The company already operates on two lines (Stuttgart and Düsseldorf), and from May 22, there will be three more in traffic - to Hamburg, Cologne, and Dortmund.

The third carrier is easyJet, which currently has three routes to Split (Basel, Berlin, and Geneva), and from May 22, this well-known low-cost airline will connect Split with London (Luton Airport).

In terms of the number of routes, the Croatian private airline, Trade Air, is in fourth place, connecting Split with Rijeka, Dubrovnik, and Pula, via Pula and Osijek throughout the year. The three mentioned lines will be in traffic twice a week, as is already usual.

In addition to these airlines, it should be noted that the Dutch KLM will continue to connect Split with Amsterdam, LOT with Warsaw, Austrian Airlines with Vienna, Lufthansa with Munich and Frankfurt, and Smartwings with Prague. All the mentioned lines are already in traffic. Vueling will also have another rotation on the route from Barcelona (May 8), and all other flights until the end of June have been canceled. Likely, Vueling will no longer offer direct flights on this route to Split in the summer of 2021.

The two companies will operate their first flights this season to Split. The Latvian national airline, Air Baltic, will introduce a route between Riga and Split on Monday, May 10. Flights are announced twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.

Four days later, on May 14, the Dutch Transavia will resume traffic on the seasonal line between Paris (Orly Airport) and Split, which will be open twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, until the last week of May.

This month (as in the entire summer season), Split Airport will be the busiest airport on the coast. From May 4 to 24, over 200 aircraft operations on scheduled flights were announced. In the summer season of 2019, it was the kind of traffic that Split had in one weekend in the peak season, but the good news is that the number of destinations connected to Split is growing already this month. We can expect the introduction of a larger number of lines as early as the beginning of June.
