April 8, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Transavia flights to Split resume in mid-April!
Croatian Aviation reports that well-known low-cost airline Transavia plans to resume traffic to Split Airport from mid-April.
The Dutch low-cost airline, a subsidiary of KLM and Air France, will renew only one route to Croatia in April.
Although the company normally operates on as many as 10 international routes to as many as five Croatian airports (Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik), the company will resume traffic on only one route in the middle of this month.
Namely, the Paris - Split - Paris (Orly Airport) will operate from April 16 with two flights a week, every Friday and Sunday.
All other lines to Croatia have been postponed for the middle, and most even for the end of May:
Transavia plans to operate on all of these lines in the high season but reduced compared to the number of operations the company had in 2019 before the global pandemic.
Paris and Split will be connected by a direct line again from mid-April. There have been no direct flights between the two cities since the end of October last year, i.e., the end of the summer flight schedule. Orly Airport is a little less than 20 kilometers from the center of Paris. The journey on this route usually takes a little less than 60 minutes.
In addition to Transavia, there should be other airlines between Paris and Split in the peak of the summer season; Air France, Croatia Airlines, and EasyJet.
Split Airport, along with Zagreb, is the only airport in Croatia to which several foreign carriers are returning in April. The traffic is still modest, but according to the announcements, that should change as early as May. According to the mentioned announcements, Split Airport should have a significantly higher number of aircraft operations on regular routes this season than in the summer of 2020, when Split, along with Zagreb, had a significant number of passengers in the crisis, pandemic year.

April 7, 2021 - The latest flight news as travelers can choose from 14 Norwegian Air flights to Croatia this summer!
Croatian Aviation reports that Norwegian low-cost airline Norwegian Air plans to operate 14 routes to three Croatian airports this summer.
Norwegian plans to resume traffic to three Croatian airports from June this year; Pula, Split, and Dubrovnik. Before the outbreak of the global pandemic, the airline operated to Zadar, Rijeka, and Zagreb.
The airline had a minimal number of international lines to Croatia in the summer season of 2020. It is common knowledge that this low-cost carrier was in financial trouble even before the outbreak of the global pandemic. In January, there was news that this carrier would cancel all long-haul lines and focus on those within Europe.
In addition to being a pioneer in low-cost, long-haul lines, Norwegian had an extremely high-quality product, and passengers were delighted with the ratio of paid and received. One of the great marketing moves was the introduction of free internet on all Norwegian lines, but the rapid expansion led almost to its very collapse.
However, Norwegian is trying to consolidate and plans to operate to three Croatian airports, Pula, Split, and Dubrovnik, in this year's summer flight schedule. There has been no line to Rijeka or Zagreb for a long time.
Although in 2019 the number of routes to Croatian airports was significantly higher, given the current global situation, reduced passenger demand, and the state of this airline, 14 planned routes to Croatia for the summer of this year sounds more than good. Of course, given the movement of the global pandemic, there is a possibility that Norwegian will further reduce its flight schedule.
However, they have confirmed that they plan to operate on the routes below:
Oslo - Pula from June 2, 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays,
Bergen - Split from June 19, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Copenhagen - Split from June 1, 2 times a week, daily from June 28,
Helsinki - Split on June 2, 3 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,
Oslo - Split from June 1, 3 times a week, daily from June 25,
Stavanger - Split from June 22, 2 times a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Stockholm - Split from June 2, 2 times a week, 5 times a week from June 21,
Trondheim - Split from June 19, once a week, on Saturdays,
Bergen - Dubrovnik from June 19, once a week, on Saturdays,
Copenhagen - Dubrovnik from June 26, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Helsinki - Dubrovnik from June 1, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Oslo - Dubrovnik from June 1, 2 times a week, daily from June 25,
Stavanger - Dubrovnik from June 19, once a week, on Saturdays,
Stockholm - Dubrovnik from June 12, 3 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Given the problems that Norwegian has found itself in the past few years, it is quite difficult to expect that they will really operate on all of these lines. In the summer of 2020, Norwegian had only three routes to Croatia, two to Split, and one to Dubrovnik. With the current epidemiological situation in Europe, we can hardly expect a sharp increase in passenger demand in June. There are less than two months left until its first flight to Croatia.

April 1, 2021 - The latest flight news for Croatia as two more WizzAir flights to Split have been added this summer!
While all eyes have been on Ryanair for the last two days, WizzAir has meanwhile launched two more routes to Split Airport.
Namely, Croatian Aviation reports that the Hungarian airline WizzAir has launched two new routes to Split in the upcoming summer flight schedule. In the last month alone, this well-known airline has announced the introduction of as many as 6 new routes to Split Airport this summer!
In addition to the previously announced new lines from Split to Oslo, Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Krakow, the airline will introduce two more new lines from Poland from mid-June. These are lines from Lublin and Poznan that will run to Split twice a week.
Although WizzAir will not base the aircraft in Split as Ryanair will in Zagreb and Zadar, the number of weekly operations and routes is large, and it is obvious that this Hungarian airline has decided to develop its network from this Croatian city. Split is currently the only WizzAir destination in the Republic of Croatia.
From June 13, WizzAir will operate on the Lublin - Split - Lublin line twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, until mid-September.
From June 11, the Poznan - Split - Poznan line will be introduced, which will also be in traffic twice a week, every Monday and Friday, until the end of September.
Currently, WizzAir offers 10 international routes to Split (of which as many as 6 new ones), and by the beginning of the season, they will announce more new routes to Split Airport.
According to available information, three new lines have not been announced yet. WizzAir will soon release tickets on the lines from Vienna, Budapest, and London (Gatwick) in the coming weeks, which will give the airline as many as 13 international lines to Split during the peak summer season!
Considering that WizzAir connected Split with only four international destinations in the summer of 2020, this is a huge increase in capacity and lines.
The arrival of Ryanair in Zagreb can certainly be called the news of the year in terms of aviation in Croatia, and this category includes their summer base in Zadar. WizzAir is slowly but surely adding new destinations from Split and practically building its fortress in one Croatian airport. The number of international routes on which it will operate from Split Airport this year is really impressive.
If WizzAir's existing plan for this summer is realized, the Hungarian airline will offer almost 100,000 seats from Split in the upcoming season. Split will, in a way, become the WizzAir 'base', and Zagreb and Zadar the base of Ryanair.

March 25, 2021 -The latest flight news to Croatia, as there will be only 3 Eurowings lines from Germany to Croatia in April.
Croatian Aviation reports that the well-known German low-cost airline plans only three routes to Croatian airports in April.
Namely, in April, Eurowings will operate on three international routes from Germany to Croatia. Under normal circumstances, the company launched several international routes to Croatia at the end of March, but this did not happen last year or this year due to reduced demand and passenger restrictions.
However, Eurowings will resume traffic on one line to Croatia in April. This is the Stuttgart - Split - Stuttgart line, which will operate once a week from April 3, every Saturday.
The second Eurowings line to Split Airport is the one from Dusseldorf, which was supposed to operate all winter but was also temporarily suspended due to low demand. This line runs once a week, also on Saturdays.
Eurowings operates on two lines to Zagreb (Cologne and Stuttgart). However, the Stuttgart - Zagreb - Stuttgart line is currently suspended, and the airline does not plan to operate on it in April. Booking is open for flights from May.
The Cologne - Zagreb - Cologne line from April 5 to 11 will have four flights a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). Until the end of April, three flights a week are available, without flights on Mondays.
Other Eurowings destinations in Croatia (Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Dubrovnik, and Osijek) have no announced flights in April. Eurowings currently does not have a line to Osijek on sale, and the company will likely not operate to Osijek this year.
The Stuttgart line was the only international route to Osijek Airport in the 2020 summer season. According to currently available data, if there are no positive changes, this airport could be without regular international routes in the summer of 2021.

March 19, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia, with the announcement of more Wizz Air flights to Split, a new Transavia flight to Zadar, and increased operations between Istanbul and Zagreb in April.
Croatian Aviation reports that Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air introduces the fourth new route to Split in the summer flight schedule in 2021!
Namely, Wizz Air has launched a new service between Split and Krakow from mid-June.
Wizz Air has already announced three new lines to Split for this year, from Oslo, Gdansk, and Wroclaw, so this summer, Split will have as many as 8 Wizz Air lines, of which as many as 5 lines are to destinations in Poland.
The Krakow - Split - Krakow line will be in operation from June 11 to September 10, twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
On the 27 announced return flights, Wizz Air will operate A320 aircraft, and in the total offer, almost 10,000 seats between the two mentioned cities in the upcoming summer season!
With four new routes, the Hungarian low-cost airline will offer additional almost 40 thousand seats to and from Split Airport.
But that's not all the new summer flight news.
Ex-Yu Aviation reporters that low-cost carrier Transavia will launch a new seasonal summer line this year, connecting Paris Orly Airport and Zadar Airport!
Namely, this Transavia flight to Zadar will begin on July 3 and operate twice per week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The new seasonal line will end on September 4.
Recall, Transavia already connects Rotterdam and Zadar.
Finally, Croatian Aviation reports that Turkish Airlines will significantly increase the number of operations between Istanbul and Zagreb in early April.
Turkish Airlines has so far operated regularly between Istanbul and Zagreb four times a week, except for Christmas when there were slightly more operations on this route, given the growth in demand during that period.
The summer flight schedule will take effect at the end of March, which is when Turkish Airlines will increase the number of operations at Zagreb Airport.
From Thursday, April 1, to Sunday, April 4, the airline will have four flights to Zagreb, with two daily flights announced for Thursday (April 1).
From Monday, April 5, to Sunday, April 11, as many as 9 flights have been announced, of which two flights a day on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday.
From April 12 to 25, five flights per week have been announced (one more than the rest of the winter flight schedule).
In April, Turkish Airlines will operate a total of 27 return flights on the route between Istanbul and Zagreb, using aircraft types A321, B737-800, and B737-900ER. This well-known airline will offer about 10,000 seats to and from Zagreb in April. An increase in the number of operations is also expected in May.

March 19, 2021 - At the 6th Family Accommodation Forum, Split-Dalmatia County COVID-19 testing points were announced for the season.
HRTurizam reports that the 6th Split-Dalmatia County Family Accommodation Forum was held earlier this week, which brought together Split-Dalmatia County representatives - the County Tourist Board, the Split Tax Administration, the Split Airport, and the County Teaching Institute for Public Health.
The Forum aimed to offer renters answers to many questions related to the season ahead. The main topic of discussion was safety, i.e., focusing on the fact that compliance with epidemiological measures will be the main prerequisite for the season.
”For six years now, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce - Split County Chamber has organized regional Family Accommodation Forums to gather and support this important and growing segment of our tourist offer. Namely, micro-entrepreneurs in family tourism give a great deal of effort in achieving significant results of Croatian tourism, so in 2019, private accommodation in Split-Dalmatia County participated with almost 60 percent in overnight stays and proved to be extremely flexible in the past, challenging year," said the president of ŽK Split Jozo Tomaš.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of private renters in Split-Dalmatia County decreased by 11 percent, and in the city of Split by almost 15 percent.
"That is why preparing for another specific season is very important to us, and that is why we organized the Forum so that renters, who are in direct contact with guests, get clear and current information," said Gordana Piteša, head of the Family Tourism Association - Split County Chamber.
The President of the Family Tourism Association of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Martina Nimac Kalcina, emphasized how important such events and the work of the Association and professional associations are to achieve common solutions and joint measures that will be the goal of all of us.
"This year, we are not talking about the promotion of our beauties, but about the promotion of safety, simplicity of procedures and travel, good organization. By mid-May, when the trips should start, we have time to prepare as well as possible, but we have to put it in fifth gear," said Nimac Kalcina.
Director of the Split-Dalmatia County Teaching Institute for Public Health, Dr. Željka Karin, and epidemiologist Diana Nonković, once again appealed for respect and adherence to all epidemiological measures.
"Testing points will be on Brač, Hvar, Vis, Makarska, Imotski, Trogir, Sinj and Split. A testing point of the Teaching Institute for Public Health is always open in Split; in a month, we will have to relocate the testing point that is now in the ferry port because of cruisers, and we are also talking about a testing point at Split Airport," said Karin.
The director of the County Tourist Board, Joško Stella, said that this year, as well as last year, they are ready to co-finance testing points for tourists.
"However, it is essential to be a green zone, that is, to have as few infected as possible and then to do strong marketing. The problem is partly that our major markets, primarily the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany, are in a difficult epidemiological situation. Still, I hope that this will change for the better in the next two months," said Stella and announced Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board training and projects.
Pero Bilas from Split Airport confirmed that the Airport is ready for the season, that they are in continuous contact with all carriers, and that all companies are interested in flying.
"We have announcements for many airlines for April, but we will see which of them will be realized. In any case, the whole industry is ready for the season and is waiting for a low start," said Bilas.
As much as their areas of activity were different, all participants agreed that there is still time until the beginning of the season for the numbers to improve. The situation to calm down, and for that to happen, the basic cooperation and personal responsibility of each of us, i.e., adherence to epidemiological measures which will paint Split-Dalmatia County as a green destination.

Croatian Aviation reports that Swiss national airline will introduce a new route to Croatia in this year's summer flight schedule, with flights from Geneva to Split!
The Swiss national airline has announced its summer flight schedule for this year and announced the introduction of a number of new routes from Geneva. In a series of new lines, there is one to Croatia, to Split Airport.
Namely, from July 3, Swiss will introduce the Geneva-Split-Geneva line, which will operate twice a week. A220-300 aircraft with a capacity of 145 seats will operate on the route, and tickets are not on sale yet. The company announced that booking on the new lines from Geneva will be possible at the beginning of this month, i.e., in the next few days.
There is already a direct airline between Geneva and Split, as easyJet operated on this route in the previous seasons. The well-known low-cost carrier has announced flights between the two mentioned cities this summer season as well, as early as April.
Swiss used to travel to Zagreb from Zurich, but that line was canceled even before the pandemic, and also from Geneva to Pula and Dubrovnik. The Pula-Geneva line will not operate in the summer of 2021, while the line to Dubrovnik has been announced from Saturday, July 3, only once a week.
The new Swiss line from Geneva to Split, as well as the line to Dubrovnik, will operate briefly, until the last Saturday in August, i.e., only in the peak of the summer season. EasyJet, on the other hand, plans to operate on lines from Switzerland to Croatia until the end of October.

February 26, 2021 - Smartwings flights from Prague to Split and Dubrovnik will operate this summer!
Croatian Aviation reports that the Czech low-cost airline Smartwings has announced two routes to Croatia in the upcoming summer flight schedule.
Namely, Smartwings plans to connect Prague with Split and Dubrovnik this summer. In 2020, the company operated between Prague and Split, while the line to Dubrovnik was suspended for obvious reasons.
In the 2021 summer flight schedule, the company plans to resume traffic to both mentioned destinations later than in 2019.
The Prague-Split-Prague line will operate from May 1, once a week, every Saturday. From June 1 to October 10, daily flights on this line have been announced.
Smartwings will operate B737-800, B737-900ER aircraft to Split, and B737-MAX-8 aircraft have also been announced, or aircraft that received a permit for re-operation less than a month ago. Just yesterday, February 25, the company made its first commercial flight with this type of aircraft after the “MAX” aircraft's airworthiness approval was issued.
The Prague-Dubrovnik-Prague line will operate from the beginning of June to the beginning of October (June 1 to October 3). Smartwings currently plans to operate daily on this route, mainly with B737-800 aircraft.
In 2019, Croatia Airlines regularly operated for the last time in the summer flight schedule between Zagreb and Prague. This line did not work in 2020 and is currently not on sale for this summer season either.
It will still be possible to fly directly from Prague to Zadar. Ryanair introduced the Zadar-Prague line last summer, and this season it plans to operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, from May 1 to October 30. This well-known low-cost carrier alone will offer over 20,000 seats on the direct line between Zadar and Prague. At the same time, Smartwings will have a significantly higher capacity at its disposal to Split and Dubrovnik.
