May 4, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Brussels Airlines flights to Dubrovnik and Split resume from June, while Zagreb and Zadar are no longer in the Belgian national airline's network of destinations. 

Croatian Aviation reports that although the Belgian national airline and Lufthansa group member Brussels Airlines previously announced the reintroduction of scheduled flights this summer from the Belgian capital to four Croatian airports; Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, and Zagreb, the lines to Zagreb and Zadar are no longer on sale and the company will not operate to the two mentioned airports in the summer.

The company confirmed that they intended to resume the routes to four Croatian airports, but the assessment of the market analysis determined that the demand for Zadar and Zagreb airports will be insufficient this summer season. For this reason, the routes from Brussels to Zadar and Zagreb have been withdrawn from sale and Brussels Airlines will not operate on them this year.

Brussels Airlines has a codeshare contract with Croatia Airlines, which operates regularly between Zagreb and Brussels, so tickets on this route can be purchased on the Brussels Airlines website. With one stop in Zagreb, it is possible to travel to Zadar airport.

However, just like last summer season, Brussels Airlines will soon resume traffic on routes from Brussels to Split Airport and Dubrovnik Airport.

The Brussels - Split - Brussels line will be in operation from Saturday, June 5. The company currently plans only one flight a week on this route throughout the summer season.

The Brussels - Dubrovnik - Brussels line has been announced from June 1, once a week, on Tuesdays, and by mid-June, the company will introduce a second weekly flight, every Saturday.

May 4, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Croatia Airlines summer flights have been announced to 33 international destinations from 4 Croatian Airports! 

Croatian Aviation reports that the Croatian national airline Croatia Airlines announced a destination plan for this summer season with departures from four Croatian airports: Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, and Rijeka.

The largest number of international lines was announced from its central hub, Zagreb, with as many as 14 lines, followed by Split, Dubrovnik, and Rijeka.

Lines from Zagreb

This summer, Croatia Airlines will operate from Zagreb to as many as 14 European destinations. Most of the announced lines are already in service. Still, with the beginning of June, the number of weekly operations to almost all destinations is expected to increase and the introduction of regular lines to Dublin and Athens.

Certain destinations to which Croatia Airlines normally operated from Zagreb in the summer were missing. The company points out that it is ready to react to the increase in demand and operate on certain routes that are not currently announced if necessary.

Lines from Split

The Croatian national carrier will increase the number of international routes from Split Airport. Namely, as many as 12 scheduled flights have been announced, and a new one will operate - Croatia Airlines will connect Prague and Split with one flight a week, on Saturdays. Return tickets on this line are currently on sale for 970 kuna.

In addition to Prague, regular routes to Vienna, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, London, Lyon, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich are also announced.

Lines from Dubrovnik

Although Croatia Airlines does not currently have international routes from Dubrovnik, this will change as early as this month when Dubrovnik will be connected to Frankfurt again. Along the route to Frankfurt, Croatia will offer direct flights from Dubrovnik to Athens, Munich, Paris, Rome, and Zurich.

One line from Rijeka

Rijeka should be connected to Munich again from the beginning of June. Croatia Airlines plans three flights a week on this route, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and in addition to the code-share with Lufthansa, a flight is also available on Saturdays. This is extremely important for Rijeka Airport, which has no new routes this year (only one from Frankfurt), so Croatia Airlines will connect Rijeka with a large European hub such as Munich.

In addition to regular lines, the company has been engaged on charter lines for a long time, which is planned to continue this summer season, especially on charters from the markets of Austria, Italy, Ireland, Israel, and Scandinavia.

Tickets on all these routes are available for booking on the official website of the national airline.

With 33 international routes from and to four Croatian airports, Croatia Airlines will support the tourism sector in Croatia in this summer season. Like last year, it will be imperative to have good air connections with European destinations.

April 28, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as there are only 3 easyJet lines to Croatia in May, all to Split Airport. 

Croatian Aviation reports that easyJet, one of the most important airlines present in Croatian airports, plans to operate regular international traffic on only three routes to Croatia from the beginning of May. All three lines are to and from Split Airport.

Although the company offered numerous international routes to four Croatian airports at the beginning of this year - Pula, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik, the announced flights were not realized.

From April 10 to 24, the airline performed three return flights on the Geneva - Dubrovnik - Geneva line, but there are no flights on this route for May. easyJet plans to resume traffic between Geneva and Dubrovnik only in June.

As for Split Airport, easyJet resumed traffic on the Geneva - Split - Geneva line on April 3, and it will continue to operate in May, once a week, every Saturday. 

The Basel - Split - Basel line operated twice a week in April, on Thursdays and Saturdays, while in May it will operate once a week, also on Saturdays.

From May 1, this airline will resume traffic on another route to Split. Namely, from the mentioned date, a line from Berlin will be introduced, which will also have one flight a week - on Saturdays.

All other Croatian airports to which easyJet normally operates in the summer flight schedule in the first half of May will not have regular arrivals by this well-known British airline.

More precisely, out of a total of 42 international routes to the four mentioned airports, there will be only 3 lines in traffic from May 1. A320 aircraft have been announced on the routes, which have a capacity of 180 passengers in this airline's fleet, which means that easyJet will have only 1800 seats available to and from Split Airport next month.

And while easyJet is still working on the summer flight schedule, Ryanair has its schedule for Croatia for the upcoming season. However, the company opened sales on its international routes in the 2021/2022 winter flight schedule. Zagreb is, as expected, the Croatian destination to which Ryanair will operate next winter.

The company has not changed the number of weekly flights on all 12 routes in the winter flight schedule and it looks the same as the schedule announced in September.

Ryanair should perform most flights next winter from Zagreb to London (daily), and fewer weekly operations to Bergamo (4), Brussels (3), Rome (3), Hahn (3), Gothenburg (3), Karlsruhe (3), Dortmund (2), Memmingen (2), Oslo (2), Paris (2) and Podgorica (2).

It remains to be seen whether the company will make certain modifications and introduce or cancel certain lines for next winter, for which, of course, there is enough time.

April 27, 2021 - COVID-19 testing at Split Airport is now available for passengers traveling to or from Split Airport. 

As of Monday, the Split-Dalmatia County Public Health Teaching Institute enables all passengers to be tested for SARS-CoV-2 near the passenger terminal of Split Airport.

SARS-CoV-2 testing will take place right next to the state road D409, near the passenger terminal of Split Airport. Access to the location is possible on foot and by car.

Testing for SARS-CoV-2 is made possible by using two methods, depending on the needs of the passengers and depending on the type of test required to travel to a particular country.

The result of a rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 is ready within 30 minutes. The test costs HRK 200.00, while translating the result to English will cost an extra HRK 250.00.

The SARS-CoV-2 PCR test is ready within 24 hours and costs HRK 400.00. Should you need the result in English, the total cost is HRK 450.00 total. The testing center explained that any tests taken on Sunday would be delivered to the passenger within 36 hours.

Passengers should bring an identity document with them and are obliged to check the travel conditions and restrictions for the country they are traveling to and the type of test they need.

Payment is possible by cash, debit, or credit card. Pre-registration by phone or e-mail is not required.

The number of those tested at Split Airport will increase in the coming weeks, especially when the airlines inform passengers about this possibility. The Airport and the Institute of Public Health want to facilitate and speed up the process of testing tourists in this way.

Passengers will be informed about the possibility of being tested at the airport by their airlines in the coming days. Before or after the flight, those who travel abroad or come to Croatia can perform a quick antigen test or PCR test without notice. They bear the cost themselves, and if we add testing in another country, it is not cheap.

"We expect that all passengers who will need testing will be informed in time of what tests they need to enter their home country," explained the Deputy Director of Split Airport Pero Bilas.

For the second summer, Croatia has been fighting for every guest. In a pandemic, safety is paramount.

"Those who come, if they are positive, will have to go to isolation where they organized for accommodation, and those who leave will, of course, be offered quarantine if they have no other options for isolation," explained Željka Karin, director of NZJZ SDŽ.

The new testing center at Split Airport will work from:

Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00,

on Saturdays from 07:00 to 17:00,

on Sundays from 08:00 to 16:00.

April 26, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as new Croatia Airlines flights from Split and Dubrovnik were introduced, and many lines have been increased from May. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Croatia Airlines announced the planned flight schedule for May. In addition to 13 international routes from Zagreb Airport, the company will operate 5 international routes from Split and one route from Dubrovnik Airport.

13 lines from Zagreb Airport

In May, Croatia Airlines continues to operate regular international traffic to 13 European destinations. Daily flights to Amsterdam continue, as well as more daily flights to Frankfurt.

The company will continue to operate to the following destinations, with several operations planned from mid-May:

Munich - from 20 May twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays,

Vienna - from 17 May three times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays,

Brussels - from 17 May three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays,

Dublin - from 27 May twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays,

Copenhagen - from 10 May four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays,

London - from 7 May twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays,

Paris - from 2 May three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays,

Rome - from 2 May four times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays,

Sarajevo - from May 11 four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays,

Skopje - from 17 May three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,

Zurich - daily from 17 May.

More international lines from Split Airport

In addition to the existing international routes to Rome, Frankfurt, and Munich, Croatia Airlines will resume operations on three more seasonal routes to the following destinations at the end of May:

Vienna - Saturday 22 May,

London - from 29 May, Saturday. From June, additional flights on Fridays and Mondays,

Zurich - from May 22, Saturday.

Croatia Airlines will operate on the existing three routes according to the following schedule:

Rome - from 2 May four times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays,

Frankfurt - three times a week, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, daily from the end of May,

Munich - from 14 May four times a week, on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Dubrovnik - Frankfurt line reintroduced
In the second half of May, from Friday, 21 May, Croatia Airlines will again operate on a regular international route between Dubrovnik Airport and Frankfurt. By the end of May, two flights a week have been announced, on Fridays and Sundays. 

Croatia Airlines' flight schedule for May looks far better than in previous months. There will be an increase in the number of weekly frequencies on almost all routes, and the introduction of three more routes to Split Airport and regular flights on the line between Dublin and Zagreb should be especially emphasized.

April 26, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Austrian Airlines flights to Split and Dubrovnik will finally operate after a series of delays! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Austrian Airlines will soon resume traffic on regular flights from Vienna to Dubrovnik Airport and Split Airport! Although the company has been planning regular routes to these two destinations since the beginning of April, this did not happen due to passenger restrictions, low bookings, and the epidemiological situation. At the end of March, the company resumed traffic on the line from Vienna to Zagreb and will now resume traffic to two destinations on the coast.

The Vienna-Split-Vienna route will operate from Friday, April 30, with three flights every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. E190 aircraft are planned on the route, but in case of higher demand, the company will increase its capacity by replacing the aircraft with a fleet from the A320 family. In the peak of the summer season, Austrian plans to operate daily between Vienna and Split.

Only a few days later, the Vienna-Dubrovnik-Vienna line will be in traffic again. Two flights a week have been announced; from May 2, every Friday and Sunday, and from May 12, there should be an increase in the number of weekly operations. Lufthansa and Iberia have already resumed traffic to Dubrovnik; as was announced earlier, Spanish Vueling will soon do the same. At the beginning of May, Polish LOT planes will land at Dubrovnik Airport again.

In addition to Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Split, Austrian Airlines also operates to Zadar Airport. The flight from Vienna to Zadar is currently postponed to May 13, and two flights a week are available for booking from that date. Austrian plans to gradually increase the number of weekly flights between Vienna and Zadar, and A319 aircraft have been announced on the route.

At the beginning of May, Austrian will operate between Zagreb and Vienna four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

April 23, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Vueling flights to Split and Dubrovnik will operate from Barcelona next month.

Croatian Aviation reports that the well-known Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will reconnect Croatia with the capital of Catalonia - Barcelona, from the beginning of next month.

Vueling has confirmed the reintroduction of regular international routes from Barcelona to two Croatian airports - Dubrovnik and Split.

In the first days of May, this airline will resume regular flights to Dubrovnik Airport and Split Airport from its main base - Barcelona.

The Barcelona - Dubrovnik - Barcelona line will be in operation from May 2, once a week, every Sunday. As early as May 13, the company will add a second weekly flight on Thursdays. The company plans to significantly increase the traffic on this line at the beginning of June and operate 5 times a week between Dubrovnik and Barcelona. Vueling is the only company operating on this line and has no direct competition.

The second Vueling line to Dubrovnik, the one from Rome, has been postponed until June 1. 

In addition to the line to Barcelona, Dubrovnik is currently the only Croatian airport connected by a regular line with Madrid. Namely, the Spanish Iberia resumed traffic on this route in the first days of the summer flight schedule, with one flight per week. From May 2, Iberia will operate twice a week between Madrid and Dubrovnik on Fridays and Sundays.

Vueling will also return to Split in May. The Barcelona - Split - Barcelona line has been announced from May 1, once a week throughout the following month, every Saturday. Five weekly flights are planned for June, but the company will likely reduce the number of operations following the demand.

Vueling also runs to Split and Rome. This line is also currently postponed to early June.

In addition to Split and Dubrovnik, Vueling normally operates to Zagreb and Zadar, but these lines have not been announced for May. More specifically, the line from Rome to Zadar has been announced for July, while the line between Barcelona and Zagreb is currently planned for June 19. Given that there is a high probability that Croatia Airlines will not operate between Zagreb and Barcelona this summer season, Vueling will be the only airline to offer direct flights between the two cities. In the last crisis year, Vueling operated on this route, but reduced and significantly shorter than under normal circumstances.

The Spanish low-cost airline will operate 13 return flights to Croatia in May and offer just over 4,600 seats between Barcelona, Split, and Dubrovnik.

April 22, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as British Airways flights to Dubrovnik resume mid-May, frequencies to Split have been increased, and the return to Zagreb Airport is further delayed. 

Croatian Aviation reports that British national airline British Airways has made changes to its summer flight schedule. It has further delayed its return to Zagreb but has increased the planned number of operations to Split Airport.

British Airways has not operated to Zagreb Airport since January this year. The company suspended all flights on this route after the UK strain of the virus appeared and a ban on commercial flights from this country was briefly introduced. After that, traffic to Zagreb was not renewed. Although companies are gradually returning to Zagreb Airport (Lufthansa, LOT, Austrian, etc.), British Airways has not yet done so, and it is obvious that it will not soon. Namely, the company canceled all flights until June 21 and currently plans to operate between Zagreb and London again from that date.

Currently, 11 flights per week are available for booking from the end of June, with a daily departure from Zagreb after 1 pm. A second daily flight will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in the evening.

Given that British plans to return to Zagreb at the end of June, the realization of flights should not be in question, but the number of weekly flights certainly is. There is no doubt that the company will cancel certain flights and fly significantly fewer times a week compared to what is available today for booking on the airline’s website.

The first flight between London and Split has been announced for the end of May (May 28), and in the second half of June, there will be a significant increase in weekly frequencies (up to 5 flights per week). Additionally, from the same date, the company will operate on London City - Split line!

This carrier offers as many as 11 flights a week to Split, 8 weekly flights from Heathrow Airport, and an additional 3 flights a week from London City from the end of June.

The London Heathrow - Dubrovnik Airport - London Heathrow line should start operating first, in mid-May. From May 17, three flights are available a week, on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays, and a month later (from mid-June), British plans to operate on this line as many as 10 times a week. Traditionally, Dubrovnik is the most popular destination for British tourists in Croatia, and after the outbreak of the pandemic, all operations to Dubrovnik were transferred from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow.

Pula Airport should also have two flights a week. The London - Pula Airport - London line will be in traffic from June 22, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Due to the global pandemic, British Airways renewed this line only in August last year and suspended it already in September, so Heathrow and Pula will be connected for a longer period this year. 

In total, British Airways will offer as many as 34 flights a week between London and Croatian airports in the peak of the summer season this year.

If we consider that other airlines (WizzAir, Ryanair, EasyJet, Croatia Airlines, Jet2.com, TUI,…) will operate between Croatian and London airports, the number of available seats on the market will certainly be more than enough. The demand of British tourists for Croatia will again be crucial for airlines' survival between these destinations.

April 14, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Austrian flights to Split and Dubrovnik resume later this month, and LOT announces regular traffic between Warsaw and Dubrovnik from April 28.

Croatian Aviation reports that Austrian Airlines will resume operations on its seasonal routes from Vienna to Split Airport and Dubrovnik Airport by the end of April. Although these lines in previous years mostly started with traffic as early as the end of March, due to the impact of the pandemic, this will happen a month later this year. 

The Vienna - Dubrovnik - Vienna line will operate from April 23, once a week, every Friday, and as early as the beginning of May, two more flights a week will be added, so Austrian will operate to Dubrovnik every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

The Vienna - Split - Vienna line has been announced from April 30, also three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. E195 aircraft and aircraft from the A320 family have been announced on both mentioned routes.

Polish LOT Polish Airlines has announced the resumption of regular traffic between Warsaw and Dubrovnik. The line should be in operation from April 28. Until the second half of May, two flights a week have been announced, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. E195 aircraft have been announced on this route, which can carry up to 112 passengers in the Polish national transport fleet.

Both companies, Austrian Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines, have resumed traffic to Zagreb Airport. Austrian currently operates four times a week to Zagreb (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), and Polish LOT also operates to Zagreb on the same days. 

Furthermore, Ex Yu Aviation reports that Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will restart its seasonal line from Kyiv to Pula this summer and has announced its return to Split after seven years. April 10, 2021 - Jet2 flights to Dubrovnik, Split, and Pula have been postponed until the end of June, as the British low-cost airline blames the UK government's lack of clarity over travel plans this summer. 

Croatian Aviation reports that the well-known British tour operator has postponed traffic to tourist destinations in Europe, including previously announced flights to Croatia.

Due to constant changes in some countries related to the free movement of passengers (which directly affects passenger demand), Jet2 has decided to cancel all announced flights to well-known European tourist destinations, including flights to Croatian airports - Pula, Split, and Dubrovnik.

Although the flights were originally planned for the end of March, then postponed to the beginning of May, the latest decision is that there will be no flights to Croatia until the end of June. A significant number of routes have been announced only from July!

This company has the largest number of operations to Dubrovnik Airport. These are direct lines from Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Leeds, London, Manchester, and Newcastle. Four of the eight lines have now been announced from the end of June, while the remaining lines will start operating only from July. Given that British guests are traditionally the most represented in Dubrovnik, this is a rather strong blow to the local tourism of Dubrovnik and the region. It is expected that other companies from Great Britain will start flights to Croatia much later than planned, with a smaller number of weekly operations.

Postponed operations to Pula and Split

Six lines to Split Airport (from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, and Manchester) have also been postponed to the end of June, while the line from Edinburgh will start operating only in July.

According to Pula Airport, Jet2 is planning only one line this year - from Manchester. The start of traffic on this line has also been postponed to the end of June.

Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy said in a statement on Friday:

“We are trying to run a business so that we can take customers away, but we need the Government to provide us with clarity to achieve this.

After several weeks exploring how to restart international travel, with substantial assistance and input from the industry, the framework lacks any rigorous detail about how to get international travel going again. In fact, the framework is virtually the same as six months ago.

Following the publication of the framework today, we still do not know when we can start to fly, where we can fly to and the availability and cost of testing. Rather than answering questions, the framework leaves everyone asking more.

Because of the continued uncertainty that the framework provides, it is with a heavy heart that we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays up to and including 23 June 2021.

Recall, UK ministers announced a new traffic light system for international travel from May 17, which will categorize countries based on risk.
