Young Roma Brides Sold in Northern Croatia

ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 – Živi Zid MP Branimir Bunjac warned at the start of a parliamentary session on Wednesday that Roma girls in the northern Međimurje region were sold as young brides as early as the age of 15 and called on state institutions, ministries and members of parliament to join in a campaign to raise awareness of this problem.

Croatia Has Spent 5 Billion Kuna on Mine Clearance

ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - In the last 20 years, Croatia has spent nearly 5.5 billion kuna (743 million euro) on mine clearance operations, and 595 people have been injured by mine explosions since the end of the 1991-1995 war, including 203 fatally, the Croatian parliament was told on Friday.

Women's Network Demands Implementation of Istanbul Convention

ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 - Members of the Women's Network of Croatia held a protest outside the government offices on Wednesday, demanding speedy and efficient implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, known as the Istanbul Convention, and warning that since its ratification by the parliament three women have been killed.
