According to the announcement of the Jelsa Mayor Nikša Peronja published at the Žveljarin FB page, from the period of April 7 until April 18, 2016, the Pitve-Zavala Tunnel will be closed due to much needed maintenance works.
During this period, the traffic will be redirected (to the rather interesting over-the-hill road), as the tunnel will be completely closed.
Parts of the top layer of the asphalt should be removed and replaced, together with cable-installation and painting of the tunnel walls (overnight in May). According to the Mayor, these works should mean the last closing of the tunnel, so he asks for your cooperation and patience.
Additionally, the road expansion in Zavala and Ivan Dolac should not affect the traffic, but please be cautious while driving. We hope, everything goes well and the works will result in better and safer roads to the southern parts of the Jelsa municipality. Not familiar with the famous Pitve-Zavala tunnel?
