25 Reasons to Visit Jelsa in 2016. 6. The Super Fast Seaplane Connection

By 10 April 2016

There are certain things you have to make peace with, when living on Hvar. Most of them are related to the Dalmatian way of life, which prefers the right moment over some fixed schedule. I believe, this is one of the reasons, why tourist feel very relaxed here, while on their holiday.

One such thing was travelling to the island. For the vast majority of people, the only way to get to the island was to take a ferry or the catamaran. And while the open-air top deck of the ferry is a great place, where watching the beautiful Mediterranean landscape makes those 2 hours go by really fast, for some, a quicker option would be very welcome.

And there is one. The European Coastal Airlines provides a wonderful service connecting some of the most popular Croatian destinations. Jelsa is one of them and was actually the first destination connected from Split almost 2 years ago, when the ECA started their travelling revolution in Croatia.

Their network currently consists of Jelsa, Split (downtown and airport), Dubrovnik Airport, island of Lastovo, Korcula Town and Vela Luka on the island of Korcula, Zadar Airport, Rijeka Airport, Pula, island of Rab, island of Losinj, and Ancona and Pescara in Italy.

Getting to Jelsa from Split takes only 13 minutes with the seaplane. It is almost too short. I mean, the view from up there must be amazing and you only have 13 minutes to enjoy it, right? Check it out..

The seaplane service not only shortened the travelling time to several destinations, but made even island hopping finally possible. Korcula, Lastovo, down to Dubrovnik and up to Pula and island of Rab, several great options for a day- or overnight-trip.
