Another celebration of the St. Florian Feast Day in Jelsa.
I had no idea, there was such a day, before I had a kid, but now, the St. Florian Feast Day is marked in our calendar and we are there to watch the Jelsa firefighters demonstrating some of their equipment. And I am glad, because this way, I don′t panic when I hear all those sirens, I just know it is their day and it′s time to get out of the house to greet them.
It is a lot of fun for the little ones, including mine, who is very curious about the equipment and the trucks. A little demonstration of the water pump and an opportunity for the kids to hold a fire hose is always very popular.
A family event for many, as several firefighters happen to have small kids, who come to see their firefighting heros in action. Here is Ivica Makjanić with his son Stipe, who dressed up for the occasion.
We are very grateful to all these men for keeping us safe and for helping in any way they can (like taking care for the park vegetation). And they are not only brave and handsome, our firefighters are able to push start a truck when needed.
Many happy faces, kids being lift up by the giant truck lift and even tourists taking pictures having a tourist attraction, it was a great morning in Jelsa today.
